treble bleed mod

e-isle rock

Question

Posted

Is this a good mod? I'd like to try it on my Centaura so the highs don't bleed off when I roll the

volume down. I've seen some kits on Ebay. Can any of those be used or do I need a certain value

resistor and or capacitor? Is this mod worth it?

Thanks in advance!

with humbuckers I haven't felt the need, but my strat gets real muddy without compensation at lower volumes.I use a 250 picofared capacitor, usually in parallel with a 150 meg resister with guitars having 250k pots, I make the resistor 250k for a 500k pot. The trick is not to overcompensate and get brighter when you roll down, but its an issue of individual taste.some players like turning up for a solo and having the tone become fatter. I soldered two wires to the volume pot of my strat so I could try different values without taking anything apart. .001 microfared is the most common value, thats a good place to start.

its an easy mod. radio shack has many parts on the cheap for you to experiment with.

Sure, its worth it if you need it to do what you may think it achieves :o

It definitely helps to keep some brightness in the sound as you roll volume back. There is no real "off" position though, so with high gain amps if you try to roll all the way down to 0 you could get a bit of squealing". Or at least I have.
