paults Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 "What I Like About You" into "R.O.C.K. in the USA" (thanks DavidE) are the same song. Extend one ad nauseum into the other to keep 'em out there. Hell, you can play both at the same time. Right Paul? Yup, you sure can!All of these work, I guarantee:867-5309 / Jenny Tommy TutoneAddicted To Love Robert PalmerAmerican Girl Tom Petty & HeartbreakersAnd She Was Talking HeadsAnd We Danced The HootersAuthority Song John MelloncampBang A Gong Power StationBang The Drum Todd RundgrenBest Friend's Girl The CarsBig Country Big CountryBlister In The Sun Violent FemmesCareless Whisper WhamCars Gary NumanCenterfold J. DavidE Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Paul: I see you added some "Kas" tunes to the list. I need to see you with him. But when do I have a weekend off while you're playing????Busy busy busy...
elduave Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 2 words. Sweet Caroline. You can bet the farm on it.
Stike Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 I've seen granny's shake their ass to You Shook Me but if you do play it PLEASE for the love of god when it's time for the solo have the band learn that part correctlly. I don't think I've ever heard a cover band play that part right, EVER. "Oh it's just like the chorus", not.
billhart22 Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 See, we are getting back to Holiday Inn tuxes!! LOL!!!Bill

I'm trying to play the solo as it is on the record and I have no idea what the band is doing behind me. ;-)
DavidE Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 See, we are getting back to Holiday Inn tuxes!! LOL!!!Bill I played a Holiday Inn on New Year's Eve 3 years ago. And yes, I wore a tux. But we wore tuxes for most of our gigs (weddings and corporate parties).
bobbymack Posted September 8, 2005 Author Posted September 8, 2005 Nice list so far, especially from you Paults! Stike, shoot me the You Shook Me chart that you're comfortable with. DavidE, you thinking up these kinds of tunes reminds me of the commercial with the sleeping phone co exec dreaming up new extra charges for everybody's bill ("20 miles, sounds like long distance to me...") I'm getting a better level of comfort from this, as our existing playlist has about 15 or 20 of the recommended tunes already so we should be okay. I am going to cull about another dozen or so from you guys and work them up though... No tuxes or Holiday Inns here fellas. We'll be lookin' spiff in a rock n' roll sort of way, but no ruffled shirts. And we're talkin' bout a 4 star 4 diamond hotel in a nice part of town, so the chicken wire and bouncers can have the night off... Keep 'em comin, nothing like a good brainstorm once in a while... Thanks!
Stike Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Nice list so far, especially from you Paults! Stike, shoot me the You Shook Me chart that you're comfortable with. AC/DC and charts? That goes together like cookies n' ass Seriouslly though I wouldn't even know where to find a chart for that, like I can even read anyway .
MCChris Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 You can kick that AC/DC tune (and, as a result, the crowd) even further into overdrive by bringing an old woman out of the audience to sing it and hopefully recreate some of Celine Dion's "Divas Live" moves. You know, the chest thumping, the air guitar whilst sashaying across the stage in quasi-Chuck Berry fashion ...You can picture it, can'tcha, Stike?

I'm just sayin', I've never listened to the song often or closely enough to have noticed the change / part you're talkin' bout...

billhart22 Posted September 9, 2005 Posted September 9, 2005 MuseCafeChris - Great Humor There!! LMAO! Like Mrs. Miller singing "Mrs. Brown you got a lovely daughter"..If you can remember that, then you are really really old, like me. Get the old broad up there with an air guitar during the solos! What a riot! No disrespect to anybody's opinion....MusicCafeChris just hit my funny bone! Bill
