Brooks Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 a live to 2 track gig recording?if everythings mic'd up, side fill your amps (so they are not facing the soundboard); this will keep the soundman from burying the gtrs & bass on the board because they are so loud where he's standing/tweaking the mix.if side fill amps &/or mic'ing up everything isn't an option, it helps sometimes to have one of the 2 tracks direct from the board, and the other track from a room mic.
hardheartedbill Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Turn noise gate offtweak at stage volume. Get the drummer to play to set volume, tweakUse the same basic rig for every patch to start with . jumping from a twin to a rectifier messes w the mixer input eq. I use the same amp model w a "new pedalboard" for each path. This way you can get a consistent eq w various degrees of gain and fx.
burningyen Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Set up your patches using a FRFR (full-range, flat-response) stage monitor or reference studio monitors, loud. Don't set up your patches with a guitar amp.
