My band uses the Zed FX 12 in a rack mount for gigs.

Fairly easy to use, no issues (Two years fairly light useage) and a nice sounding desk too.

Plus they're based just around the corner from me in Falmouth.

Never had much time to fiddle about with it, I just set it up and tweak it a bit for the room.

One day I'll try the USB out to a HD recorder.

I like the Soundcraft MFX12 or MFX8, personally. I have one of them, but it's been so long since I used it I can't remember which one I have!

I've got a couple of the Zed boards. Nice, and perhaps the most stylish of the less expensive mixers. Only complaints, and minor at that, are:

* On the 12fx, you can still hear some signal coming from a channel, even when muted. I've not noticed that on other boards. I know my hearing is not getting better, so it probably is this board.

* The 12fx has +10db gain on the stereo channels. I don't find this to be enough to properly set the gain for an Ipod. The 10fx has +15 which works better. Would've been better if the 12fx had +15.

* The 10fx lacks mute buttons. Would've been nice to have.

My suggestion is if you are going to buy one, make offers to some of the Ebay retailers for a new unit. I was quite happy with the prices I paid.
