Kurt L Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Here's a list of the bands I saw.Friday:Leo Kottke and Mike GordonAsleep at the WheelKasabianMofroGovt MuleHad to work Friday night - missed the Allman Bros. :-(Saturday:Death Cab for CutieRobert Randolph and the Family BandJohn Butler Trio Jet OasisSunday:Rilo KileyKaiser ChiefsJeff BlackDave Alvin & the Guilty MenDonna the BuffaloWilcoColdplayA few notes - go see the John Butler Trio anytime you can. Incredible! A friend of mine has several of his CDs, they're good but seeing them live was several notches up!Govt Mule was great. Of course, Warren can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. Oasis sucks - and I was too far into the crowd to get away. The Kaiser Chiefs were more fun than anyone I've seen in a long time. Kind of post-punk, pop-punk, whatever you want to call it. A blast!Jeff Black is a great singer/songwriter.Wilco rules. I enjoyed Coldplay a lot more than I thought I would. Crowd was probably 50,000+ and they were ALL into it. Their rock numbers were very heavily U2 influenced, their mellower stuff is what you hear on the radio. On the guitar side of things, Gibson is a sponsor and seemed to dominate. I saw LPs, SGs, 335s, Firebirds, Vs, J-200s... Gibbies were everywhere. Fender made a respectable showing, but I saw fewer than I expected. I saw no Hamers... sniff, sniff. Wore Hamer T-shirts all three days, told myself I'd keep waving the flag until I actually saw one. More surprisingly, I didn't see a single PRS all weekend. But I only caught a portion of the 160 bands that played.
cmatthes Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 I was actually going to take my wife to see Oasis/Jet/Kasabian on Thursday night, but that is one more nail in the coffin for me (besides it being a "school" night and tacking on babysitting fees, etc...)Think I'll just enjoy the Posies show tonight, although the Lemonheads on Wednesday night is tempting!Sounds like you had a great time - definitely some great acts down there.
elduave Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 That was a great lineup. I would have made it a point to see The Black Crowes and Franz Ferdinand.
Kurt L Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 Crowes played Friday night when I had to work. :-(Franz Ferdinand was on at the same time as Wilco.

savethematches Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 How does one go about getting tickets for Austin City Limits? My wife wants to go there on vacation next summer.
Kurt L Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 Tickets for the tapings of the TV show are given away - with very little advance warning - at the KLRU offices. At least that's how they used to do it. I've been to several tapings - very cool. Great sound, not a bad seat in the house.Tickets for the festival are available online at their website. That's the best way to get them, I think. I got mine online and I live in Austin!http://www.austincitylimits.com/
