frank_c Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 were there any hardtail SS1's made? anyone converted one, or would it be sacrilege?
cmatthes Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 I know of one. Never seen another one, but I have seen a picture of exactly one with a Sustainblock. That would probably be a pretty useful conversion.
frank_c Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 i think i'd play it more without the Floyd...
Andrew Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 I have a sustain block SSI. I know of at least one SSII with a sustain block that belongs to another HFCer. But they are the only two original ones I know to. http://uk.geocities.com/largeat/index.html
cmatthes Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Andrew:I forgot about YOURS!Okay - now I know of two.
zzdat Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 I had this one converted at Hamer. It cost tice what I paid for the guitar, but it's cool Beans!http://home.mindspring.com/~zzdat/sitebuil...es/Mvc-085f.jpgCool BeansGene
Rockola Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Just when I think I've seen Hamer's possible body & hardware combination, something else cool strolls into the website. Any Sustain Block Standards? C'mon....blow my mind. The stop bridge is a nice looking piece of work, tooS.
cmatthes Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Mike Wanchic (JC Mellencamp's 30+ year guitarist) played a black Standard with a single bridge pickup and a Sustainblock, if I recall correctly. The best shots of it are from when "Johnny Cougar" played on SCTV back in 81 or so.
mc2 Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Here's an '87 SSII with a GOLD sustainblock. Steve gave it to a close friend/guitarist (name on headstock) as a gift and that guy told me there was a second one made (red) that was given to a certain celeb/actor the same night he was given his at a benefit !! He wasn't specific on it being another hardtial but since they made them together it might be.
silentman Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 bruce919 has a recent sustain block Mahogany Standard. BCR Greg had a sutain block Blitz with one piece flame top a few years ago. There's been a Monaco Elite, JR. and my Watson all built with a SB too. We just need someone to put it on a newport. I'll say it again : THIS SHOULD BE THE BRIDGE HAMER PUTS ON THEIR GUITARS.
mc2 Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Actually, I asked this in another string but it's probably more appropriate here...in the HFC Hamer Model Descriptions it mentions that there may have been some LONG-SCALE SSI guitars made in 1987...Has anyone here ever owned one or seen one?? Got pix?
