Michael_ Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Somehow, I was expecting this one to fall a little closer to my bottomfeeder friendly price range.Prototype on eBay.Why'd it go for so much?
SteveE9C6 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I was curious about that myself. I am not a fan of anything whammy-ized so this didn't begin to appeal to me. Perhaps it is simply the uniqueness?
cmatthes Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 That's probably in line with where that guitar SHOULD be priced. Definitely bang for the buck - and I'm not a Kahler or skinny neck fan!
David B Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 That guitar is all stock. The Kahler is not a mod.
cmatthes Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 David is correct - Serial had one of those ProtoIIs that he found locally for cheeeeep. Dark metallic charcoal, but the thing had a surprising amount of flexibility.
atquinn Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I was sorely tempted to bid on that (I would have been out way before it reached that price tho'). I don't pay much attention to Prototypes but I was attracted by the whammy bridge. I guess somebody else was too . -Austin
Michael_ Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 Protos are great, but I got mine for 325 and I see most of them going for about 400 or so. I think that my 325 dollar prototype probably has 710 dollars worth of tone in it, though.
Jimbilly Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 That could just be signaling the end of the bargain '80s setnecks.
