Pedals and power supplies

Hello chaps,

Hope you can help with this, I've just got a TC Electronic Flashback to play with after the good advice I received on VHS pedals, and was told it eats batteries, so I got a Boss PSA230 (UK plug 230v 50-60Hz) with the idea that it could be used to run it, or one or two of my other pedals that rarely get used.

The polarities match up between the PS and the Flashback which is a good start....however the PS says 9v DC @ 250mA versus the pedals printed label that says 9v DC @ 100mA.

I've refrained from hooking it together for fear of blowing something up in my inexperience, but my question is obviously is this going to work without explosion or potentially frying the pedal?

Anyone know what the answer is? - I'm a bit of a pedal beginner :)

Cheers,

Bennyboy.

Should be fine mate as the effect(s) will draw what it/they need(s). As long as you don't draw above 250mA, you'll be fine...

I'm just finishing off my own board (got new FX arrive today). Will post pics later...

Updated pic (today): L-R: Dunlop Crybaby, MOEN Compressor (fabulous), BOSS Metal-Zone, BOSS Noise Suppressor, (BOSS Chorus SOLD + Ibanez Digital Delay SOLD)...

BCB-60.jpg

Boss CH-1 replaced with Digitech CF-7 Chorus Factory (with built-in Flanger) & Ibanez Delay replaced with Artec Analog Delay. Also bought 2 x Dunlop Crybaby Wah Wahs (don't ask but they were cheap) + a Boss PW-10 Multi Wah (programmable & will go on the board in place of the Crybaby)...

The voltage, AC or DC and polarity of your power supply must be the same as the units you plug into it, but the mA must be higher then all your pedals added up together. It may even be ridiculously higher, it's not a problem at all, it's even a plus.

Note that power supplies made for musical instruments are much better filtered for noise then the cheapies out there.
