The BL L500XL has a little more high end and a little less low end, the SD Distortion a little more low end and a little less high end, but they are both my 2 favorite passive pickups for the bridge. Make sure you get a real BL 500 from Bill, not the phony company. You want the 500XL also, the 500L is a little less hot than the SD Distortion. The SD Distortion is about 16.5K and the 500Lead is 13.5K and the 500XL is probably 16K ++++++++++ Jack.

This pickup is supposedly somewhat scooped in the mids for a really clear tone under high gain. I can't tell you any more that what's on the Dimarzio site because I never used the pup. (although it is used). Bought it from Admiral B a couple years ago to use in a project but it never happened.For what it's worth, I think the Steve's Special is used by that guy from Dream Theatre that Silentman Lou worships...
