Andrew Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Never seen a nitro finish that late, all were cross-linked cellulose acetate by then.BUT, as always never say never. And don't discount the possibility of a good refinish as the serial number would be preserved.
rugby1970 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 My question concerns a 95 Studio with a small finish scratch. The tech at my local GC showed me the 3M scratch remover that he uses to repair scratches on guitar finishes. Does anyone have nay experience using this stuff?
rugby1970 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Not specifically. I went there for strings and saw the tech and asked the question. Do you have any advice (other than not asking for advice at GC0?
murkat Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 the 3M will have silica in it, more than likely.Go get some McGuires auto stuff, a lot better for light stuff. If deep, get it professionally buffed out at polished.
LucSulla Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I just fixed a ding on my guitar with super glue dropping. Use super fine sandpaper lightly 1000 grit and up working up to at least the wetsanding stuff at 3000 grit. I used 3m after hitting it with some turtles wax swirl polish. It you want it perfect, you almost have to use a buffer. I got mine looking petty nice by hand, but I am going to have to hit it with a final buffer stage if I want it flawless I can tell.
