donplob Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 hey fan club -- I'm looking for a Studio... opinions on a fair/good deal price these days?
veatch Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 800 to 900 sounds about right for that one. Add 200 for crowns. Maybe another 100 for an extremely clean or unusual color finish. Maybe another 100 if it is newer than say 2005/2006. So, 800 to 1200 depending on what yer looking at. That being said, i have not been watching the prices much lately, though, so i could be off. Hopefully, someone else will chime in. Oh, and the limited runs will be a lot more (Triple Threat, 30th Anniversary, Earthen Maple, Redwood, ...)
sixesandsevens Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 I agree. It takes a lot of patience to break the $800 mark, from what I've seen. It takes extreme circumstances, ignorance, or condition to break $600. One nice thing about GC is they have a lot of used inventory listed. Unfortunately they usually seem to charge $100 to $500 more than a proper "deal" on used Hamers, but it does let you monitor prices at times when CL and eBay are slow. And of course it's probably the equal of a guitar that would sell for 2-3x that once you get your hands on it.
Ting Ho Dung Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 This one was a good deal.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hamer-USA-Studio-w-OHSC-All-Orginal-1998-/251225405623?pt=Guitar&hash=item3a7e3378b7It looks to me, and I'm usually wrong, but hasn't that bridge PU been changed. All the studio '59 bridge pups I've seen are double black. Custom order maybe? Also, tonepro is from '06 and newer (?) He doesn't mention what year it is and I can't tell from the picture if it is one.
Never2Late Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Interesting - I need a new price-quote for such a Studio. I have a situation come-up. My local music store owner has been telling me he 'owns' a Hamer. He's been keeping it in the back of the store. After a few vague conversations, I asked him to see it one evening. Its a brand-new, NOS Hamer Studio with the same specs pictured above. Certificate, tools, cleaning cloth in-bag. Thing is, he's never played it. Once. Then it hit me - its not 'his' ownership-wise. Its unsold Store Stock. New. 2003 'we think' from the serial number. He bought it from another local music store that had it in inventory, but they never sold it before they closed. So, he stuck it in the back of the store for the past ten years and never pulled it out. He wants to sell it - to me. Whenever I'm ready. I think I'll offer full-boat, crowns or no.
