Differences between USA CALI necks?

Not sure but i've heard along the grapevine that they manufactured them thicker in the later years (90's) compared to the standard model. Also noticed some neck have the lock nut bolts come through to the backside of the neck whereas other do not. Any thoughts?

Both true. The mid-90's Calis had thicker necks and Hamer got rid of through-the-neck Floyd bolts in the early 90's (IIRC). These are trends that happened to all their models though, not just the Calis.

Changed from bolt through to screw on locknut through '89.

Changed from bolt through to screw on locknut through '89.

Is that the same time they moved away from the nitro finish?

It's around that time although i think it may have been a little later '90 or perhaps '91.

In my experience (limited) neck profiles can differ pretty vastly. Not sure if that's a period based thing, or just from the handy work of the boys and girls making them.

My 88 and 90 are totally different to play.

Yeah, as we've discussed previously, late '89 there was a very definite facelift, locknuts changed to being screwed from the front, arse end strap buttons raised themselves an inch or two, cavities wore shielding paint, necks seemed to get wider (and sometimes much wider than the locknut) and maple bodies started to be book matched with the opposing billet rather than some random bit from somewhere near the forest that the first bit came from. Also this became the time where the PATB reigned supreme, it convinced me at the time LoL

Ooooh you tease... Say more Cali stuff :D

This further enforces the fact I think you drugged Em's into marrying you, i'm sure the first time she looked behind the toilet and found a copy of Guitar World she knew she was doomed

Every one I owned felt a tad "thin". Not "narrow" but thin. Kind of a shred-flat thing [go figure]. Gimme a fat C necked Daytona any day.
