OK, this is a little weird. I bought this magnifier for my Mom who suffers from Macular Degeneration. She loves to read (and see, in general), but unfortunately this was too little too late. Her problem is more that words/letters jump around, making it all but impossible to read anything but super-large type. If she used it more than 5 or 6 hours total I'd be surprised.

So what it is:

HIMS Lifestyle Candy Grip magnifier, which is basically a camera lens that zooms in and out, attached to a screen. It works extremely well and I'd recommend one even if you didn't buy mine (but buy mine anyways). It is virtually new, with everything that came with it (carrying case, charger, strap (unused), microfiber cleaning cloth (unused), and manual), all in the original box/packaging. Even has the protective plastic still on the screen.

This was $700 new (I know I know - the price of a good used Hamer), but worth every dime if someone you love has this disease. But because I like you guys, I'll ship it to an HFCer for $500. I would consider trades if you need this and don't have the scratch. It's one of those things that can change a struggling person's life, and getting it to someone who can really use it is important.

I realize it's a stretch to try and sell or trade it here, so it'll be on Ebay in a couple days if nobody here can use it.

Very sorry to hear about your Mom. That has to be incredibly frustrating and depressing, more than most of us can imagine. Give her my best, we'll be thinking about her.

Reminds me of my wife's aunt and uncle. He's put-near deaf from years in the paper mill; she's put-near blind from macular degeneration.

But they've got a sense of humor. She doesn't have to look at him, and he doesn't have to listen to her.
