  1. My brother in HFC and now US Curling,

Saturday Night is NBC Sports Curling Night in America and its now on my calendar as a weekly repeating event.  Good time to slow cook up a crock pot of Chili or pulled pork.  We do love our pork products here in the great Midwest!

  2. Did somebody use a screwdriver or ballpoint on the top left of body by the pups and on the back in the tummy cut?

No, not at all.  The "marks" on the front are in the grain, not scratches.  On the back they are surface marks in the clear coat, you can barely see them in person, they just showed up like that from the camera flash.

I knew there had to be an explanation.

Sold it yet?  Tough crowd here. Have you tried Reverb?

Good God, if I wasn't in complete gear liquidation mode I would definitely suck it up at $600 in a heart beat.  Pao ferro fingerboard!  Nicely figured swamp ash body!  Mmm, mmm, mmmmmm.

      Cheers!

  3. How could you have joined the HFC in 1969.  There wasn't even a Hamer Guitar building in 1969.  Paul Hamer was what, maybe 9 years old in '69?!

    Cheers!

    You know who

  4. Sorry about that brain fart of mine with lack of a price tag on the Matchless cab.  you and mc2 where right on top of it.   Thanks! thats why you are the lead admin. and that my friends is how gratuitous sucking up is done!

back to the same ad, does my listing of parts drawer stuff come dangerously close to being a garage sale? can I pull together a bunch of related thing into one posting called "Tuners" then list Tuners, tuner buttons, or tubes and list all the tubes such as

    • (4) JJ ecc83 $150 each or
    • (6) Groove tubes 12ax7, $45 each plus pack/ins/ship
    • empty boxes of NOS GE 6v6

Well guess who is sorting psrts and taking pics tonight!

  5. Ha! Done that: At the time I was thinking how playing in a rock band would be waaaay better. You are one bad ass lookin mofo. Little sneer, nerdy glasses, black curled up hat. Where's the swirly gig with the bottle of Schlitz? Stay thirsty my friend. Cheers! Noonan

  7. Hmmmm... I too was born in '58, haven't smoked, and my teeth have not seen much sunlight, but my teeth have yellowed nicely. Must be the coffee. '58 caddie. No chips thru the finish. All original electronics & hardware. One headstock repair. Very solid. $66k obo
  8. $55k is the downpayment on this townhouse I'd like to buy. Does this guitar come with indoor plumbing? Cheers! caddie
  9. Luc, with all due respect, you gotta quit drinking. Cheers! caddie
  10. OMG, I think I just pee'd a little. caddie
  11. I recently put locking tuners on my '96 Eclipse, otherwise its orig. Love that guitar. If you have any doubts about keeping it, plug it into a Princeton Reverb. Your Eclipse will be a keeper. Cheers! caddie
  12. "none more black..." i took the time to walk thru your photobucket collection of guitars & amps. Holy Mother of Pearl! Even in today's depressed used gear market, you have huge $$$ hanging on the wall and sitting on the floor. Maybe $100k, depending on those Gibson goldtops it could be closer to $200k. Don't tell your wife but that's a lot of money in guitars. Keep the doors locked. On second thought get an alarm system. Maybe a couple of mean ol' junkyard dogs. Yeah ok, Hamstd probly has you beat on Hamers but your overall collection is impressive. Cheers! caddie
  13. i'll confess. I'm a tuner swapper. I gotta have locking tuners. If I do a restring on standard tuners it looks like it was done by Edward Scissorhands. Cheers! caddie
  14. Easy there. I do not want to be tossed into the same bucket as John Gruber. I did not ever label p-90s as "stupid".
  15. Dawn Liquid Detergent. It gets crude oil off otters & pelicans & seagulls. It gets burned-on spaghetti sauce off a pot. Can it possibly harm the 14 coats of clear lacquer on our beloved Hamers? or even a greasy, grungy old Gretsch. Remember, save the grunge. Put it in the "Lard Can" with the bacon grease. Thanksgiving Day dinner is approaching! There ya go Mr. Hamerhead! Cheers! caddie
  16. May be I missed him among all these posts. Paul McCartney - The Beatles Saw Her Standing There Cheers! caddie ps - my bad. i shoulda checked the list on the Giby site before I piped up about McCartney. Now, how 'bout Nick Lowe. Hamer player too!
  17. Has this wonderful, legendary guitar been languishing here since Aug. 1. Really? Really??! It received the obligatory $350 offer. If it has been sold, nobody asked me for my blessing. WTF boys & BlueRedWhite? A month? There are options. Gear Page, eBay, reverb.com, Southeby's Fine Art Auctions & Confidential Private Sales. With all due respect, there are options to the bottom feeders of the HFC. Cheers! caddie
  18. 2 guits. 1 Gibson scale length, 1 Fender scale length. My fingers didn't have that "scale length issue" thing. We had 2 guitar players. We thought we sounded best when 1 guitarist played a Gibson length and the other played a Fender length. The other guy always played either Gibson or PRS. He would bring 6-7-8 guitars I gotta say, I think it was just for display (wow factor) purposes. He didn't own an acoustic. Everybody had to step up and help him lug his crap in & out. Sorry buddy but truth be told we all thought you were kind of a diva. Especially after we started bringing large bottles of Aleve to gigs because of the tendonitis flare ups from lugging your shit. I would bring 2 guits, my Duotone and a Warmoth Thinline. Two times I brought the VintS. The chicks loved it, but alas they did not help me out personally if ya know what I mean. The Duotone of course did double duty as short scale electric and acoustic. The Warmoth had a piezo in it too, so it did double duty too as long scale electric and acoustic. I'll confess as I look back at it. By far I spent most of my time on the Warmoth. A few songs with the Duotone. Closing Time, Can't Ya See, Interstate Love Song, Good Riddance (Time of your Life). It was probably just to play it to rationalize why I brought it. One trip to the car for 2 guits and 1 knapsack with cords n a couple pedals (vibrato n tuner). 1 or 2 trips for amps. 2 amps. Mesa Mk IV then switched to Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. Plus as backup a Mesa DC-3. Never needed to use the backup. There were many gigs it just stayed in the trunk. My recommendation? Minimize the load. With all that gear laying around on stage, sooner or later something is gonna go missing-in-action. Cheers! caddie btw - Like they taught you in kindergarten, SHARE. Most amps have 2 or more inputs. Save some stage space, leave backup amps in the trunk. If necessary go get your backup between sets. Share your amp inputs if somebody's amp suddenly takes a dive. I don't bang hard on my guitar, neither did the bass player. We stayed in tune. We shared one tuner. Bring one tuner and share. Don't be a diva, tuning between every song, bringing the set to a screeching (pun intended) halt. You brought a load of guitars, change guits if its truly out of tune. Nobody wants to hear your tuning routine. They wanna drink n dance, shoot pool, bowl, pitch horseshoes, play mumbly peg, roll dice, etc Get on to the next song. Sorry about the diva rant.
  19. "Slammed at work AND at home at the moment." What were you thinking? "Not enough time in the day. Hmmm, I'll put #0017 up for sale, that oughta clean up my to do list." Ya know what, as soon as 0017 sells, ships, and you get the money how bout we use your new found extra time to go to work on some shovel ready projects. Like my basement! Don't wanna waste your extra time. Cheers! caddie
  20. The entire HFC Community just pee'd a little. Kinda like when a puppy gets overly excited. Cheers! caddie
  21. Its worth what someone will give you on any given day.
  22. I was at the grocery store last week. I heard Hotel California while looking for reduced fat cream cheese. Once I got over by the TP the background music had moved on to Takin Care of Business. I may have to switch to Whole Foods. Cheers! caddie
  23. I stopped listening when Blue Oyster Cult broke up. What was left to listen to? What's wrong?, What's right? It was as if gravity was turned off. No more cowbell solos? Oh the horror, the horror. Cheers caddie
