mid-late 90's neck profile

Hi,

a Hamer lover from Seoul, Korea.

I used to have '96 Artist and yeah, the neck was just wonderful. Not too big, not too thin but just fit to me.

And, my question is that I am planning to buy a '97 Studio in "For Sale Forum" and curious about the what is the neck profile of '97 Studio like. Is it identical(or even similar) with '96 artist neck?

Regards,

Hyunjong

Ask the seller if it's a vintage or modern carve neck.

The modern isn't tiny, but is closer to a Gibson 60's profile. The vintage carve is noticeably thicker and has been the neck on most of the Vanguard and Artist Mahogany models I've seen.

Sadly I've never played a 90's Artist, so I can't give you much more to go on than that.

Let us know what it's like once you buy it. ;)

Obviously, there are no absolutes - especially with hand-carved guitar necks. But...I've owned a multitude of 94-97 Hamers and they all had very similar neck carves. They are, without a doubt, my favorite era of Hamer guitars. When I had my custom Newport Pro built I asked for that era carve and they nailed it. Take it for what it's worth, but unless the Studio you're looking at was a custom order, its neck should be very similar to the '96 Artist. Keep us posted.
