Zhangbuckers

Does anyone have experience with these pickups http://www.zhangbucker.com/humbuckers.html

The unbalanced coils, and the "splat option " an additional partial tap on the slug coil for coil splitting, sound just about perfect for what I'm looking for..........there are precious few youtube clips however.

I was considering, and still am, the WCR "American Steele", Wolfetone "Dr vintage", and Lindy Fralin "Unbuckers "

There are so many boutique pickup winders out there these days, my friend is currently raving about these http://www.sigilpickups.com.

Reasonable price for "spec-it-yourself" custom pickups.

Ask about the wait time. A Strat set ordered last year took 6 months. Maybe the wait time is better now.

Sigil offers double white HBs? So, DiMarzio doesn't get upset about that, if they're made in Canada?

Double white (or double parchment) are not the same as double cream. Pretty much every US maker makes double white. Anyway, I had a Zhangbucker many years ago from when he first started out and it was *meh* (who knows what I would think about it now; my tastes seem to have changed a bit since then). But I bought a set of P90 soapbars from him last year (they were on his in-stock page) And they were great.

Thanks for the replies; given the somewhat lukewarm appraisal of Zhangbuckers, I'm very much leaning towards the WCR American Steele set.

The "Splat" option really did intrigue me on the Zhangbuckers though, but given the time he's been winding pickups I'm curious as to why there are so few youtube clips of his products.

The Sigils sound really good in this humbucker shootout :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axUNdK8O45Y

I have a Woodbucker/Pagey2 set in a 335. Sounds as good as it gets.

How long did you have to wait ?

It`s a couple of years ago I ordered these so I can`t remember but I didn`t think of it as a long wait.

I got quoted eight to ten weeks by Zhangbucker, Sigil, five to ten days; I like the idea that Sigil PU's are still pretty new to the business, he still has his passion, and enthusiasm, often when people do their best work.
