guitfiddler Posted November 29, 2005 Author Posted November 29, 2005 Thanks....it really did. Honestly, I owe a BIG debt of gratitude to HFC'r 'Badgerdave' for encouraging me to get started in building & modifying a couple or 3 years ago, and "mentoring" me as I got started, answering "a hundred" different questions I had while building my first one (a '57 Strat replica in gold-top gold) which came out perfectly, ultimately - thanks to his pointers. If you've seen any of Dave's astonishing Strat & Tele creations, it's clear that he'd be right at home working in the Fender Custom Shop. I already have 3 new Strat projects lined up : 1.) Authentic '54 Strat replica in 2-color sunburst, nitro finish body and vintage amber maple neck. 2.) A "Joe Walsh" Strat in candy apple red (see Crossroads Guitar Festival) with one firebird pickup.3.) A Cream-yellow Jimmy Thackery-inspired Strat (lightweight swamp ash) with 3 Joe Barden-style pickups, fat-back maple neck w/CBS headstock. It's not possible to make any money doing this, I actually plan on losing 20 to 25% of my investment when I sell one.... but it's a hobby that I love, and certainly much more affordable than drag racing.
guitarded_1 Posted November 30, 2005 Posted November 30, 2005 Whoa...that is one sexy mofo. Wish I had the cash.
guitarded_1 Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Will someone please buy this before I do something stupid? Thanks.
guitfiddler Posted December 2, 2005 Author Posted December 2, 2005 Thanks for the "bump." By the way, those particular Schaller tuners are basically unobtainable today. I've tried to buy some additional sets from many possible sources and they only have them with the standard posts. Seems Schaller only made a few sets of them for Fender a couple years ago, for issue on some American Deluxe Strats. What is special about these? The post heights are staggered..... they get shorter as you go from low E to high E. Therefore, eliminating need for those nasty string "T's" Here's a shot of the back... it is black, therefore all full of glare and reflections. No scratches though. I won't mind keeping this one if no-one wants it, I just don't have need for 7 really good Stratocasters, with 3 more "in the oven." I think I need to learn how to sell on ebay.... although I really don't think much of the venue for selling high quality instruments.
jwhitcomb3 Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 Nice guitar! If I wasn't in the mode of offloading gear I'd be very tempted. Good work, and good luck!-Jonathan
