  1. I have a Valvetech 12/10 combo I will part with (reluctantly, but alas I am unemployed and some things just must go, especially if they can be replaced when I am back on my feet again.) The unit has very low hours, is in totally mint cond. and is up to current specs. Incl. the 12AY7/12AX7 switch. The only potential drawback is: no FX loop. I'll part with it for $900. shipped conus. Includes $45.00 custom cover (naugahyde) made by our own Dan Chavers. If interested, please contact me at [email protected] Thanks, Craig R.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Michael-Kelly-Hybr...1QQcmdZViewItem Open the above link, then look for the link to the M. Kelly website, which includes sound clips. I don't have one myself (yet,) I have one of the Kelly Duece flametop models.
  3. I'm with you Gary. I lost an uncle to the same thing. God bless your father and your family.
  4. The GB12's are gone. But I do have an Eminence that appears very similar, that was in an ADA Rocket 10 amp. Appears to be British cone, unseamed, doped edges. I believe it may be 8 ohms, which would be appropriate for an amp running 2 6V6's. It is in excellent shape and I have no plans for it. Give me $30.00 and I'll send it to you, shipping incl. Must verify the impedance first, though. [email protected]
  5. There's a chance that there is a 16 ohm lead (wire) hanging on the output transformer that is capped, not being used. Randall engineers may have chosen to only tap the 4 ohm & 8 ohm leads & provide only 4 ohm & 8 ohm. If so, it's a simple matter to install an aditional output jack on the chassis, connect the 16 ohm lead and label the jack. It won't damage a tube amp if you connect a 16 ohm spkr. to the 8 ohm output jack, but you may lose a noticeable amount of power.
  6. another possibility? (link below) I'm not a big fan of the headstock shape, but I really like the binding and simple control lay-out, good pickups and electronics and it should be a really good player, too. I would also shy away from mid 80's Gib. V's due to some neck-set issues and humpty-dumpty fret boards. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Dean-79-Flying-V-e...1QQcmdZViewItem I picked up an Edwards for myself, a couple months ago... highly recommend if you come across one (pic:)
  7. Yes Nik uses good parts (Sprauge, Mallory etc). He does use his own transformers and though I've heard no complaints, some people opt to get their own trannies. Usually due to the fact that it reduces the shipping cost if buying a kit. Although nervous about sending pre-payment $$ to Malaysia, after a couple email exchanges with Nik and studying all of the reviews on Harmony Central (okay, okay, I realize.....), I took the plunge and have ordered a JTM45 complete assembled chassis (less tubes) from Ceriatone. Getting head box (cab.) from MojoTone.
  8. Don't. Let the teacher start her properly from scratch, including fitting her for a shoulder rest. Speaking from personal experience, it's like a new skier or golfer... the earlier you can start, the better, and any goofing around at the beginning only starts bad habits. The teacher should be involved fom the beginning including fitting her personally for her first violin (there are 3 sizes,) fitting her for a shoulder rest and teaching her stance, holding the violin in place without hand support, proper bow grip, proper bowing-arm angle, and proper wrist angle. She'd be much better off having fun this week looking around this lady teacher/player's website in advance: http://www.sheilascorner.com/sheila.shtml http://www.sheilascorner.com/studyopening2.shtml
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/CREAM-3-CALIBRATED-Lil...oQQcmdZViewItem Also available in white & black. I built a Jimmy Thackery style Strat last year from Warmoth parts and used a set of these rails pickups. Love 'em, they sound almost as good as Jimmy's Bardens, which aren't available anymore. I used a 500K vol. control instead of 250K, to retain the highs.
  10. Wow. If I saw that, I might be tempted to email myself and make myself an offer on the mint cond. Korina Vector I had listed for sale a couple weeks ago for $1,700 shp'd.
  11. Never heard of Joe Shitsbelowmyneck. Is he one of those upper-stratospheric euphoric alchemists catering to the vaponic needs of a few manically-depressed tone-depraved cork-sniffers?
  12. Jason Lollar is considered the king of P-90's, but Pete Bilthoft knows what he's doing too, has similar tricks up his sleeve, but charges much less. He will also custom wind if requested. I've bought a bunch of Pete's Strat & Tele' p/ups and his quality is right up there, 2nd. to none. You might want to check him out. http://www.vintagevibeguitars.com/pickups.htm
  13. "I can't change the radio station fast enough when one of his "songs" comes on. " +1 . Also can't flip the TV channel fast enough if he's on in concert, crooning his mumbled almost unrecognizable tone-slurred Blaah Blaah into the microphone. The "new" Bruce Springsteen is doing the same thing to me now, which has turned me off of him, after he was one of my top fav's, back in the 70's. He has started infusing his concerts with gospelizing, preaching and "Holy Rolling" to be as much of a personal religious experience as a musical concert. I find this to be really annoying.
  14. Ya know, I don't quite get the "all omnipotent" and "King of the Mountain" status Gibson seems to enjoy, overwhelmingly. I went to see the Allman Brothers this summer at Montage Mountain, PA. Jack Pearson was in tow as a 3rd. axeman, for 4 or 5 "special" non-Allman standard numbers, slinging a Stratocaster. Frankly - the tone of Jack's Strat totally smoked the tone of Derek Trucks' SG, and both Warrens Firebird and Les Paul that night. My bud Ken and I both went home that night saluting Leo. My point is.... I would never spend more than a grand on a Les Paul as a working guitar, let alone a commemorative guitar.
