HamerHamburg Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Yes correct, but the ad states that he is open for negotiation. I'm in Hamburg, north Germany and the guitar is located way down south, so no chance to have closer look. My 78 neck profile is like a medium C, very comfortable and not too slim. Actually 78 in cherry sunburst is the best lol ... I kinda like my low serial number and the fact that it has a shimmed bridge. Sort of a design or "don't have the right parts yet" flaw, which I think has that little extra charm I might bid on that rocked out 79 on eBay ... let's see where it goes. I have a great luthier here in Hamburg. A little of his magic and a set of new pickups to get the original look back. Could be totally worth it.

Hamer was not even building these guitars all in house at this point................. Tom Holmes was doing the bodys, necks, putting on the fingerboards ............they were trying different things, different parts, what was available for parts is what they used kind of thing, it was a small fledgling company struggling to get on their feet....................I like the romance of it all. BTW I do like all the playwear on the Ebay guitar............ with some help it could be a back in action ready to make some good music.
HamerHamburg Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Yep, and it also has the Tom Holmes mojo, for what it's worth. The rocked out eBay 79 is also up for sale on the ad platform and he is asking €1190 for it. I might just try to snatch it off eBay for cheap just for the original case ... It has a broken handle, but that can be easily repaired.Currently at €436 ...
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 CJ,You will find a nice one that will work for you with regards to the guitar itself and the price.Even here in the USA the older guitars...........the "Vintage" 77-79 Hamers are difficult to find, expensive,[but not for what they are and what you are getting ] and those that do own the instruments tend to hang on to them............after all where are you going to find a better guitar. Germany per the Hamer "The Ultimate" book by Steve ["Serial"] Peter Wolf brought many a Hamer to "Deutschland" so you do have some around over there.
cornjulio Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 I know I'll have to wait a little or go and visit HamStd in CA :-)
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I know Peter[Ham Std] had some Sunbursts for sale [He sold a Black dot neck awhile back as well as a later issue [89]] Sunburst]...............you could certainly PM him and ask what he has available for sale. Never hurts to ask.
