WOW!.........................never owned anything close to a vintage piece like that, beautiful! [So is that Esquire BTW]....................I did own a 58 Fender Strat but the neck and body[Humbucker route in the bridge position that was filled professionally] dates were not from the same year. It had the original finish beat to holy heck. It also had later PUPs and electronics and it was refretted and had later but vintage Fender tuners, and a non OHSC, but it was an original Fender. I actually traded a Gibson ES-330 plus cash to get it. and it was STILL expensive This was waaaaaay back in t

Miles Davis 3 times.................outstanding shows were they all. Mahavishnu Orchestra both 1&2, The One Truth Band, Return to Forever with Bill Connors and later Al DiMeola Jethro Tull 6 times,The Who, 3 times when Moonie was still alive and drumming. One of the best performances was Ronnie Montrose at "The Cabooze", he had a massive rig as the band was touring behind the SPEED OF SOUND recording. Very small club and I was probably ten ft. away from Ronnie and the band. IT WAS loud but it was so expertly mixed it didn't overwhelm. Ronnie was at the top of his game and played amazing -

Very cool guitar for sure.......................he obviously thinks what he has is worth more than any other Hamer SPECIAL on the planet. Good for him, I hope he treasures it for a long time, because at that price.........he will! -
How about disappointing concerts? Yer experience?

Eric Johnson at the "MIRAGE" club in Minneapolis.................. Derek Trucks was the guest artist. The sound was muddy and uneven from side to side in the club and waaaaaaaay too loud. Whoever was running the sound had it together a little better toward the very end but then it was almost over. It was Eric's first performance here in Minnesota along with Derek Truck's who are both fine guitarists at the top of their game so it was a let down. The playing was great by both but the sound quality ruined the show for me. -
Almost a grand for that guitar?, Hmmmmmmm. I'd say pass, after seeing what can be done with a headstock break by the likes of BCR GREG and Murkat this repair doesn't even come close. If I was looking to buy a guitar that had a repair done to the headstock by either of those two experts in guitar repair I would say game on but this one is a "PATCH" job at best IMHO. IF you bought it and had it repaired by either of the mentioned repair experts it would all be done right, but it's a labor intensive and expensive job so you would have to consider that cost along with the purchase. HERE Seen Bet

Well that guitar is far from "AS NEW" IMHO. I wouldn't keep it as the condition would not be something I would own. People have differing views on what is excellent, mint or AS NEW but that guitar clearly is NOT as described, and hardly how it would have left the factory. IF you were to keep it I would be asking for a considerable discount....... .............me,................. it would be on its way back to the owner. Too bad that IS a very cool guitar. BUMMER.

If Not a Lester (with a "G"), What?

I have had some really nice Gibson Les Paul guitars through the years all the way back to the late 1960s when i got my first one. I first saw this Make/ Model when they first came out and really didn't pay that much attention as it was way out of my price range. Now it's my retirement guitar, that last guitar I will buy and I have stuck to that since buying it. I love this guitar for how it looks, plays and sounds, nothing about it I don't like. It is or was................Yamaha's "TAKE" on a updated version of a Gibson Les Paul. One piece Honduran Mahogany body,5 piece Honduran Mahogany -

I did just that.......................... bought the first B&C'd 79 off Ebay for $ 1,200.00 and later found a 2'd 79 also B&C 'd for $1,600.00. I'd have a really hard time giving 15K or anywhere near that for this guitar. I do love it though.
