  1. I believe used USA Hamer guitars are some of the best guitars ever made ,love the real early ones. I bought both my 79 Hamer SUNBURSTS for $1,200.00 and $1,600 respectively....................don't think we will see those numbers again. Still there are some great Hamer guitars to be had but sadly very few at bargain prices....................people have finally caught on as to what fine guitars they are.
  2. That IS sad, such a talented guy........................ I saw Kansas many times through the years and they always put on a great show....................[ In fact I just got back tonight after spending 7 days in Wichita visiting my daughter who moved down there last year.] I think Steve Walsh had one of the best voices in rock and he was a excellent keyboard player. All those guys were great. RIP ROBBIE.
  3. That's the way to make a entrance with a new guitar........................well OK a NEW OLD guitar. The "SUNBURST" is IMHO the best model Hamer made and the 1979 is the best year for a early one....................but in reality they are all great guitars. Congrats! that is a stunner! ENJOY!
  4. Now THAT IS a crying shame........................what the hell?
  5. I got to talk to him long, long ago ,this band was magical for me. RIP Rick. Rick Laird, jazz bass legend and founding member of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, dies at 80 | Guitar.com | All Things Guitar
  6. Comments...........................would you buy it?
  7. Congrats!...............................that is beautiful, and rare according to KIz, and he would know having ownership at one point. Love the color and that has a great looking top. VERY nice! In that condition........................you stole that guitar.🙂
  8. They are nice guitars the ARIA's...........................not quite up to Weddington Custom quality but for the money a good buy. I bought my Weddington Custom in Dec 2019. and I love it. Check Reverb often, they do show up there. Here is my 1990 Yamaha Weddington Custom..
  9. That IS a beauty! I do prefer "Crowns" instead of the VICTORY" inlays on the fingerboard but it a marvelous guitar non the less.
  10. Very fine guitars and IMHO the best Hamer guitar model. I owned 2 1979s and enjoyed them both. The necks tend to be slimmer than some prefer................the description is saying this one is not.................the first one I owned had a slimmer neck but not a pencil and the later 79 had the 3 piece neck as does this one and it WAS fuller.................like a full C shape let's say. Tops though beautiful on some of these guitars are a veneer not a thick maple top like on later Sunbursts. Not everyone loves DiMarzio pickups but it's what they came with, powerful pickups that sounded great to my ears. I thought they worked well with these guitars which are essentially all mahogany except for that thin veneer maple top. Both of mine were decent weight 8.5 or so, the later 79 I owned was a tad lighter. The tuners, Grover "BULLSEYES" or "SMOOTHBACKS" did their job well on mine, I had no problems with tuning and these were old well used guitars when i got them. The case's w/o a guitar in them already are near impossible to find with these early guitars. I had one later issued Hamer case and the other late 79 had its original....................the later Hamer case was built better and offered more protection. Sure the experts here can offer more.....................I'm no expert by a long shot but I did own these 2 fine guitars I speak of. I always did want a "Natural" finished Sunburst that was Bound and Crowned but none were around when I was looking so I bought the 2 Black 1979 Hamer Sunbursts as this was the guitar played by one of my favorite guitar players Martin Barre of Jethro Tull. Here are the one's I owned, the first one I bought had the Kahler..............not a uncommon mod back in the day when they were popular, I would like to have wished it away but after I realized the rest of the guitar was so good I got over that quickly. The other 79 on the right was stock except a DiMarzio Super Distortion was fitted in the bridge position. HERE:
  11. I knew of the True Temper and it's origin as well.......................I thought the film dragged a bit but I love guitarist Jojje Wadenius such a great great, player. I remember seeing him on a concert on TV with BS&T back in the 70s................Don Kirshner's rock concert? something on that order anyways....................not sure but it was after David Clayton Thomas had left the band and was replaced by Jerry Fisher.
  12. I'm all SWEDE so hope you enjoy this..........................if you thought Yngwie was the only one...................there ARE others.
  13. ...........................................and really just about as heavy as one!
