DNight Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Any one here know of a good repair shop in in or around Mesa AZ? A family friend broke the headstock on what he says is a Gibson guitar and was going to shoot some glue in the crack to fix it. I would like to send him to a reputable shop to prevent a hack fix on a guitar that could be worth something. He is a retired gentleman and want to make sure any place I send him won't tell him it's junk, offer him 20 bucks when it's actually worth some coin.ThanksDan
Feynman Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 There is one and only one guy I will trust to work on my guitars, Dennis Breuler. You will have to drive to Cave Creek Guitar, but it is totally worth it. Dennis is nothing short of a wizard, and is a genuinely nice guy to boot. He only comes in to the shop on Tuesday and Friday, so call ahead to be sure he is there. I've tried several all over town but My search ended with Dennis.

Feynman Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Oh yes, that's another fine choice. John Reuter has also done good work for me, but sometimes they are not so responsive. He did some serious restoration work on an old vihuela for a friend too, and that's no easy task. Still, Dennis.
chromium Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 ^ Appreciate that reference as well... I have a couple around here that could benefit from professional help beyond my abilities (fret level/dress, etc)
DNight Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm in Wisconsin so I'm not familiar with techs in the Mesa/Phoenix area. I should have thought about Venn though - years ago I went to Red Wing tech for string Instrument repair and we would take in jobs from the community as well.Cheers!
Nocturnal Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 Bronson Guitar Works in Scottsdale has a good reputation.
