  1. Sounds like a similar spec to the one I put in my old Charvel tele (er, esquire - with the Eldred circuit). Killer pickup.
  2. HFC E-Type inventory: 4 out of 6 (...and counting?)
  3. ^ beautiful Sweetberry wine!
  4. That's me- slow and steady. So you've given me something to aspire to. I'm only in this for the glamour, after all Have no idea how someone could let it get that far, but it could have been sitting unused/unnoticed in an environment that had a lot of pests (...envisioning an episode of Hoarders).
  5. Wow. I've had a bunch of old gear come and go, but have yet to encounter anything crawling or flesh eating. Occasional spider web, hairball, nondescript goobers, etc.. are more the norm. If it were me, I'd probably try to carefully delouse that case- spray the hell out of it with white vinegar (should kill eggs in the event those things are spawning in there), let it air dry, and then wipe it down with a moist rag to clean it out, vacuum, etc... I've had to do that to a couple cases that smelled like Keith Richards had passed out in 'em.
  6. I usually give the steel wool a squirt of lemon oil (or naptha) and run over the whole board (with the grain as mentioned) and wipe it down with a cloth afterward. Cleans off any goobs and leaves it looking nice. Also, a strip of masking tape over the neck pickup helps keep any steel whiskers from gathering...
  7. ^ this (re: the strap) I use Levy 4.5" wide padded leather straps: http://www.amazon.com/Levys-Leathers-MSS2-4-BLK-Garment-Signature/dp/B000XPNWU2 My old Bs aren't so bad, but the Gibson Triumph that I also gig is a bit of a beefcake (~10.5 lbs). Those straps make a huge difference after holding that thing 4-5 hours.
  8. Dang. This is the only other flat Strat plate that I recall seeing... http://alembic.stores.yahoo.net/blaster.html Pricey for what you need, but they do have black.. and maybe they'd sell just the plate if asked
  9. If it helps, this site appears to have some black NOS 80s flat Schecter jack plates in stock... http://tonyfarr.ca/tonyfarr.ca/FARR_TEST.swf
  10. I like burgundy mist. Gibson's heather poly might look cool too - lighter, more lavender. Almost redid my tbird in that color, but chickened out and went with ocean turquoise. Good move on the bridge. I can get along with the 3-points, but wouldn't intentionally do it
  11. Can't wait to see how that comes out. My dream B4S would be something along the lines of the Pete Farndon bass. Sounds an awful lot like what you described...
  12. Nice! That Blitz you have is a killer. Can't wait to try out your new additions... the FB certainly looks sharp
