As it says, anyone here a fan or up on these things ?
I think i'm coming to a time in my life where things may have to go, I haven't gigged for over two years and at 52 I think i'm probably done with it (well, on a regular basis anyway) and apart from making 2 or 3 guitars a year I rarely pick one up - i'm a rocka rolla, not a musician Lol
Anyway, a bit of history and some specific questions about the pedal that can only be described as the "daddy of stage beasts" by the sheer size of the f'ker if nothing else. I've had this for around 14 years, from the original owner, who brought it new around 1982 from Tim Gentle's in Southend (quite a famous mail order company back in the day). As an 18 year old with his first months pay cheque he went to buy (after lunchtime in the pub and a few fat one's on the way with 'the band') a Tele and settled on a sunburst Jap one as he said it sounded and played better than the US one's which he initially went to buy, which at the time I think is believable. Being a bit worse for wear and knowing he still had a pile of folding in his wallet the band encouraged him to buy a wah pedal and when the sales guy wheeled this thing out he said he just had to buy it only because his mates jaw's dropped to the floor and the whole shop came to a stunned silence over this gleaming chrome thing the size of a small suitcase.
Off he went with his new 'rig' but here we have some bad news and some, in a bizarre way, good news. He said after a couple of rehearsal's, about three months in reality, the switch that turned the oilcan function on/off ceased to function (it won't engage to turn it off) so he took it back to the shop who told him, apparently in no uncertain terms, it was use and abuse and told him to piss off - in reality i'm sure they were just glad to see the back of the thing as the retail was around £230, not much short of what the guitar he went there to buy cost him. He went home, put it in a box in the loft and there it sat until I liberated it some 30 years later - and I've never used it.
The questions are firstly, what are these things actually worth - they seem to be listed around $400-500 Usd from what I can gain from the net and secondly, and perhaps more importantly, should I change out the DPDT switch or leave it totally untouched as it came from the factory as apart from a slight bend in the nameplate, apparently caused by the loft ladder catching the side of the box it was in, it truly is immaculate - all the graphics are 100%, the treadle pad's got no marks at all and even the chrome is immaculate - not even any polishing scratch's, it is like new.

With thanks.
