Fret Love

Question

Having spent 5 seconds searching the forum archives and about 30 seconds searching Google, I feel I've exhausted my research, so I'm turning to you kind and knowledgeable folks to ask about fret love.

I'm getting some buzzing on the upper frets of my Artist P90- likely due to my sloppy playing.  But, it got me curious about fret leveling.  My Google searches linked to a notched straight edge, which in turn led to a leveling beam

Any opinion on the idea of the self-fret-love, these tools or alternative tools would be welcome.

Fret leveling is pretty much a craftmans job. It requires the tools to make it right. However, I'm a candidate to leave a scar here and there in both frets and wood.

Guitar setup as a whole pretty much is a patience job for me. Trussrod and bridge height adjustment for great sting action without buzzing you really need to know where to go. Intonation tuning finally adding the cream on the ice. Those are not jobs that jump at me.

Eventually, it helps me that tone runs through the fingers. B)

Gulf Coast weather/humidity change and the shift from the heater to the A/C in our case, I'd expect similar guitar hokeyness in similar regions.

I've got a G&L ASAT on my bench as I type this that the owner swore needed a new nut. Nope, he needed that slight backbow trussed out.
