guitfiddler Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Put a set of GFS p/ups in it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Gold-Vintage-59-Alnico...oQQcmdZViewItemThere is also a bridge version (H71) .
Crazy Carl Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 Cool! I've got a TCM Taurus showing up with those in 'em (for my man, Auge), so I can check 'em out first.Look 'too good to be true', but for that money, how can you lose? Hmm...
cmatthes Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 CC:Let me know what you think about those - I've heard a lot of people who are thinking about trying them out, but no real reviews or opinions. I also understand that their marketing strategy is to start out as a good quality, lower cost alternative, then reprice when the word gets out - could be Internet message board speculation, but that keeps coming back in discussions.
silentman Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I think I have a JB at home somewhere in double black. If you have a cover, that might help you out. I'll check when I get home tonight.
lhrocker Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Chris - The GFS sounds really good. I have a pair of their matched Hot PAFs in a LP Custom and that guitar sings.Carl - I have a JB/59 in white - the 59 has a logo and the JB doesn't.
Crazy Carl Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 Yech, no white.Hey man, you still got those Super Distortions I sold you WAY back when?
lhrocker Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Were they double creme? I put one in a Gibby Explorer and the other one I coil swapped with an EVO to make 2 evo/sd hybrids.
Crazy Carl Posted January 6, 2006 Author Posted January 6, 2006 Nah, they were double blacks. This was WAY back when, on the LPF, pre-Lily induced meltdown. No big, just surprised to see your name. Funny to see some of the 'old' to me names still on here.
