Question

I am looking to make some improvements to this guitar. I would like to lower the action, which is already as low as it goes in this configuration.

I would like to find a way to pin the bridge, probably needs a different bridge.

I don't think the nut can be cut much lower

does the bridge float on disks?

If so, you may have to use an ABR with posts.

And if you do that, is there support underneath?

You may have to make a sound post, a piece of wood that connects the top to the bottom.

Not a bad ideas if you plan on keeping the guitar.

( I have done these mods to vintage m75's with great results)

If that is the case, and there is a sound post,

I would install an abr setup on it, that would get you closer to the fretboard.

well the tune-omatic does sit on pins that are integral to the metal discs that sit on the guitar. those discs are freely movable. Maybe my terminology is wrong, but I'm hoping for  bridge that won't slide around. I could put on 10's instead of the stock 11's but I like the way the guitar  sounds with heavier strings

sound post through the pick up cavity?

Yes. slip it through, mount, from the bridge pup cavity.

I had made a few. the best ones out my testing was a brace that looked like an  X with small feet and hands on each end.

Still retained the wooly woody tone, less but more controllable feedback.

Also, if the pups are spring loaded, or foam tucked underneath for adjust-ability,

consider hard decking the pups to desired height, and hard mount them... ;)
