Back in my retail days, every 40 c that got sold eventually came back cooked. The lay out of the amp would over heat, decouple most of the solder on the pcb board, and or catastrophic failure. It is, was a bad design. Maybe it is re engineered to work now, I do not know. Here is a fanboi thread of for you to dig deep into~ http://www.marshallforum.com/threads/the-official-marshall-dsl40c-information-thread.53780/
DaveL Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I had a dsl15c) it was ok, loud enough for a 15 watter... the problem I had was that it went from clean (preamp at 2) to pretty dirty at 3 to 4... and anything above that was shred city... for the price that they sell for $300-ish used seemed like a fair enough deal. at least the DSL15c could compete with a drummer, which an SL-5 (the slash combo) couldn't really keep up.
