vitass Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 Hi, I'm thinking to make new frets on my Hamer sunburst 78. Not sure which ones to install I do not have any buzzes with original frets but they are almost completely flat and low height, making bends are not easy. Could you recommend me which frets size to use? thanks
BoogieMKIIA Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 Fret discussion just a few threads ago. Believe it may indicate what was used earlier than mid 90’s, or someone can reply. Noting you are in Germany in case what is available there is different than the US.
chromium Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 My opinion is: definitely go with your personal preference. My '78 was re-fretted with some Dunlop 6100s, I am also a bend-y player, and I *love* the way it plays with these frets. I can get along with lower profile frets, but for me here and now... these make it a keeper.
Hamer Dave Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 I’d go with a higher fret personally. Maybe even 6100. They will make your bending a breeze. Then again, lining to keep original. If it stays intonated, and doesn’t buzz, I’d possibly leave it for now. Maybe there’s another with higher frets you may have when you have that bendy feeling.
