Willie G. Moseley Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Vince Martell, original guitarist for proto-progressive icons the Vanilla Fudge, will be on Mike Huckabee's TV show this coming weekend on the TBN network---Saturday night w/ a replay on Sunday, IIRC. The timing of this appearance is fortuitous (and perhaps a bit self-serving, admittedly) on accounta the new issue of Vintage Guitar (June '21) features the Fudge's early '69 album Near the Beginning as the classic album that's examined as the monthly "Pop N' Hiss" feature. Martell contributed recollections about that album. IMO, Tim Bogert's bass solo on the side-long "Break Song" on that album is indispensable for aspiring bassists. Earliest example I know of where a bass ran thru a fuzztone.
Steve Haynie Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Music stores do not carry as many big bass amps as what are in that photo.
