Thoughts and input on volume pot wiring

So changing a bridge pickup I reversed the wiring on the volume pot,  pickup going to lug 2 which is the wiper and the output going to Lug one, which is backwards from normal didn't notice it and gave it a play and it sounded really good.. I happen to go back in the cavity and noticed that I had wired it backwards so I corrected it, gave it another play and it did not sound as good as before.. put it back to the way I had it originally and wow it sounds great again, better than the quote normal wiring..

does anyone have any thoughts on what's going on here electrically?

Have a look at the "erroneous" wiring relative the tone control (notice where the tone control lead enters the circuit), then have a look at my thread on 50's wiring. Might that be what's going on?  I will not go back!

I will, thank you.. I convert all of my tone controls to no load meaning when they're fully clockwise they are not in the circuit at all, and nine times out of 10 I get a much richer sound out of the guitar with that tone control out of circuit
