  1. Crowned? Nah, I don’t care. Dot inlays, unbound neck and unbound headstock are okay. Just bound body is preferable to me… though I generally dislike pickguards. Yet, is this baby FS? What year?
  2. Yeah, I know you guys are attached to your guitars, but it’s always worth trying, so here we go: I want a Black Standard, preferably from the most recent models. I you have one for sale, please PM me. I live in Florida, in the Fort-Lauderdale area. Thanks in advance! PS: No Floyd or Kahler, please.
  3. Hey! Thank you! But in all honesty, designing that solo was pretty arduous; the rhythmic figures of the run at the end are quite challenging for me to play cleanly and in time. That run starts with two quintuplets, then it follows with two triplets and then it ends with a straight rhythmic line. I actually didn’t play it too well in the video, though it’s a decent approximation. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Also, I had to do several takes of the solo, stack them up and then cut and paste the best sections of each take. That’s why the studio version will sound neat and tight, but « live » I don’t think I can do much better than what I did in the video. Hum… the angry guy kinda looks like me, but I won’t take it personally 😜
  4. I guessed you guys would like to see that our Hamer axes are getting played, so here’s a new guest solo I recorded for BLINDER, for a song on their next EP. Now, here’s something you might NOT like: I DID record the second lead voice you hear in the background with this guitar, but I ended up recording the main leads with my home-made white Vee. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Yeah, I know, sacrilege; but that’s how it was. As weird as it is, that no-name Vee which was built by a friend of mine using leftover materials, still is my main guitar for playing solos. I just have a good bond with it. So, for the record (pun intended), here are the tools of the trade: Cheers!
  5. FYI, @Jakeboy and I are already working together. BTW, the same way @Steve Haynie was expecting more metal from me, my bandmates are now wondering what’s wrong with me. 🤣🤣🤣 I’m having soooo much fun!!!! 😜
  6. The lyrics: “Ashes On My Keyboard” I was trying to be there for you, my friend Just wanted to see you laughing again So I started to play with fire Oh what a mess I’ve made, ashes on my desk! Got ashes on my keyboard While you got ashes in your heart Oh, ashes on my keyboard But you got ashes in your heart. You go for a walk by the lake And your inner war goes on and on and on and on I go for a walk on my side Walking beside you in my mind while I’m still alive. (solo) You go for a walk by the lake And your inner war goes on and on and on and on I go for a walk on my side Walking beside you in my mind while I’m still alive. Got ashes on my keyboard While you got ashes in your heart Oh, ashes on my keyboard (oh no) But you got ashes in your heart Burning down your life Within your mind But you're a dragonfly.
  7. Ashes_on_my_KBD-raw-demo.mp3 Here's the song. It's just me playing and singing to a click. This is at its very early stages and I'm not very good at singing and playing at the same time, so I beg your indulgence. By the way, I've only shared it with my bandmates, so please don't share this thing around, it's extremely raw. I also overdubbed a guitar solo, only to figure out what to play in that section. Nothing definitive either. The slide parts go after the turnaround in the intro and right before the guitar solo. The chords are A, Db and D. Once again, huge thanks. The HFC is the best guitar crowd in the world. ETA: 75 bpm
  8. That sounds awesome. Tone wise, I’m looking for some authentic slide tone. I don’t know much about slide tones, but I don’t want it to sound like me playing slide, because I cannot play slide. I’m going to share a raw demo in short here.
  9. It isn’t very metal, actually. Going to share a raw demo in short.
  10. The title says it all. I wrote a song and need someone guesting on slide guitar or lap steel. It’s EXTREMELY simple what I need, just sliding from A to Db and then D, and that’s all. Recording that sequence once will be enough, I’ll copy & paste it where it goes afterwards —it appears only four times in the song. Of course I can play that part myself, but I would prefer a skilled player with the right gear to do it. Can anybody here lend me a hand on this? Thanks in advance! PS: I plan to publish the song as a single, or perhaps even in an EP. The person who will play the three sliding chords will be credited for their contribution. I can also offer you some compensation, even if the job isn’t such a big deal, because I know some of you guys here can do this much better than me. Thanks in advance again!
  11. This is my entire “restoration kit” for Kev’s Standard. Given I no longer have to keep it to his specs, as it’s now unlikely Hell will ever play in my town, I’m going to give her the “4-digit look” back:
  12. I’ve noticed some old Standards come with those “rhythm and treble” rings which are very present in Gibson guitars —Les Paul, SG, Explorer… For Hamer guitars, which models used them? Was there any Monaco or other model, aside from the Standard, that had them? Also, when did they stop using them on Standards? PS: I got me a vintage ring of those at a local pawnshop (please see the attached picture), just because the price was right. I’m wondering if I should install it on my black 4-digit Standard. Any thoughts on that too?
  13. It seems it was a random shooter. That’s quite scary. I have several friends in Las Vegas. Hope the responsible will be caught, the sooner the better.
  14. What a BEAUTY 😍
  15. I have to check it out then. Thank you!
  16. Using this guitar for most of my guitar parts that I still need to record, to finish for our album: It’s quite noisy though. I’m actually wondering if this is related to the wiring, or if the pickups are unpotted, or if there’s something else. Nonetheless, its tone is so sweet there’s no way I’m touching its electronics for now. No matter how noisy this guitar might be, I just love it! 17. Well, now I have a closer look to it, it’s like a reverse and pointier Futura; well… it’s actually like a lefty Futura played in right-handed position! I barely remembered how that guitar actually was. Thanks for sharing the link!
  18. Now you say so, that’s absolutely true! KK Downing had his Vectors, and Tipton had the Phantom GT and the other that looked like a star —was it a Scarab?
  19. I don’t think it is. The one on eBay looks more “beaten”
  20. Kev told me he “brainwashed” Andy Sneap into Hamer 😜
  21. Algebra, yes, as I mentioned above. I love math, I develop software professionally, so one could say math indirectly pays my bills… as well as my guitars. Yet, “The Boss” is keeping an eye on me. I’ve been in a buying spree lately, given I’m gravitating more to Explorers now than to Vees, and things have gone out of control —a couple of days ago I was talking to Gene (@BTMN) about this. In short, if I do the math, this has to stop! 😛
  22. Algebra. He’s an 8th grader.
  23. Yes, it’s less round. I haven’t had time today, because my kid is studying for a math exam and I’m the “math guy” at home. I’m still working with him. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  24. I will compare them side-by-side to my Standards, and then I’ll let you know. I remember one of The Twins mentioned here that these guitars looked Gibson-like pointy. To be continued…
