  1. place looks great, dave. mebbe I'll have to sneak away from the fam at the holidays for a mel testdrive. hmmm...
  2. jeff hits the 'brown note' and nearly busts a gut trying to hold it in...
  3. Despite what happened with the Dean thread and the ju-jitsu thread, things have changed. And the "you couldn't even type his name" comment is utterly without validity. I spend a lot of time here and that was never the case. Period. (snip) Actually, the situation was that when you typed a certain individual's name, the board software changed the character string to 'he who shall not be named'. I thought it was juvenile then, and I still think it was juvenile now. High school antics. Your memory is faulty, McChris. It did happen, and quite a few other people commented on it as well. I spent quite a bit of time on the phone speaking with one of the other mods about it - ask him. Water under the bridge at this point, but it was the case. Period. I like BTMN's guide to posting. Reasonable enough.
  4. Stonge...haven't you learned? Every time you go down this path, you wind up having to buy me a beer. LOL!!!! how could I forget: 'you are wrong, and this is why...' Poe, by the time you finally get up to CT, I'll owe you a frickin case. Maybe a keg lol... It's all good, bro. I will make it a point to raise a glass in your honor tomorrow (ya skinny git).

  6. I've done business with Ron at Ron's Guitars for over 15 years now - always top shelf stuff with great service. He was a Hamer dealer until just recently, and he hooked me up with Mrs Stonge's all-time favorite guitar back in 1992 or so (back in the day when he used to write out my receipts to Ed St. Steinberger lol). Stopping in at the shop is almost always guaranteed to cause hours or days of "I want this/ I want that". Mrs Stonge always goes with for damage control. He carries good stuff lol. I stay out of there when my wallet is feeling small... I prefer Ron's, but with Hamers you gotta buy where ever you find them (and they ain't exactly popping out all over). I scored a 1981 Sunburst bound and crowned in 'gecko-burst' from the local GC a few months back at a fair market price (they knew what they had, and they knew how bad I wanted it. Sometimes you just gotta smile and hand them the Visa card lol). That same GC has had a carved top mahogany Phantom in trans-red (I think it was a prototype built in 1998) hanging on the wall forever - if that one is still there I'll bet the price gets chopped for the monday sale (somebody go rescue it; I don't want another trans-red Hamer lol)... I don't hate GC - I've had decent luck with them but there is just so little there that I really am interested in (and the chaos and bedlam of the store makes me wonder how bad an environment could you actually create to try out an instrument? It's like a psych lab experiment run amok lol). and when the Targets and Home Depots and Walmarts and Best Buys have all finished feeding on the little mom and pops, where do you think they'll be feeding next? On you and me, pal...

  8. October festivities? what an interesting idea. can we have a post-Hamer tour party without the Hamer tour part? hmm... maybe I better check the calender (and maybe work on that MAME machine that didn't get built last year). I'll have to talk to mrs stonge this weekend. Can't believe October is sneaking up on us once again. Just finished picking up the empties from the last party lol... leave the phasers at home or we'll beam your arse to Henry J's house.
  9. here's one with a two-piece neck lol:
  10. Thank you to all who have inquired - the guitar is sold to an HFC friend. Back to the basement to excavate something else that needs a new home...
  11. sorry about that... for clarification, the guitar was on Ebay and did not hit reserve at $499. Rather than relisting the guitar (and paying the fees), I figured I'd rather toss it up here and see if anybody needs an inexpensive graphic Special. I won't sell it for the bottom-feeder-approved price (just on principle, I don't think hand-made USA Hamers should resell for less than a used mexi-fender. Obviously, the market disagrees with my opinion but I don't have to sell mine that cheap lol). Somebody up here needs this for their collection (and I need to return some fundage to the stash for the 'next big thing'...). thanks, stonge
  12. The 'thinning of the herd continues' - currently looking for a new home is a 1981 Hamer graphic Special with OHSC. Please see the description and photos here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW Priced at $450 plus actual shipping (Hartford area folks welcome to stop by for a test drive - save me from having to ship another guitar lol). No trades; I'm still trying to repay a loan from mrs stonge for the last couple acquisitions (kind of a 'deferred' version of 'one-in, one-out'). Questions to stongemonataoldotcom... next one up - a certain TV Yellow Phantom and perhaps a couple of shredders...
