  1. Until Hamer can garner more interest in their brand other then the 30 guys who post here they will eventually die. I think it's insane that guitars of the quality of the Artist, Newport and the Monoco can only get between $950 and $1300 used...that is just insane. Meanwhile shitty Gibsons with lumpy and uneven finishes, poor fret work etc...get double this. I guess it comes down to this, people are stupid and buy based on history rather than quality. I only have a Newport Pro right now but would like to get a 2-pu korina Junior or Special what ever they call it.
  2. The only way I can see this changing is with a long successful run of young artist endorsements, people need to know the company even exists. Right now, I get, "So you have a hammer, who makes those?" Every time I see an up and coming guitar player who is using something else, by the time he gets to teh big time he's using either a Gibson or Fender, it makes no difference what they were using earlier because the corporate tentacles got hold of them. Case in point, Johnny Lang, I think he was using Schecter tele's then switched to Fender's soon after.
  3. My 97 is awesome. I'll be using it again this weekend, the best neck pu tone I have ever had, clear, never muddy and just sings, sings and sings some more, what a great guitar!
  4. Maple is brighter then Spruce. Maple had a harder treble edge to it where Spruce is a little softer sounding. Gibsons are plywood guitars so they should tend to be more simliar in sound from guitar to guitar. Every Hamer Newport I have played has more high end to it then the Gibsons. I disagree with you about the muddy quality when turning down the tone controls, if anything Gibson guitars are the definition of mud when you roll down the eq. Perhaps you should try adjusting the amp instead of the guitar, you might have to look at this rather then the guitar.
  5. I thought the PG was known for bridge position mostly? I heard a lollar Imperial in a Vinetto telecaster once and it was probably one of the best neck tones I ever heard (It could have been the guitar). How about that one for an idea?
  6. I have a 59 in the neck of a Standard I bought from Fenyman. It sounds good but the bridge is especially awesome SH-14 custom five? Anyway, what would be a good mate should I decide to improve the neck pu should I decide to do so? If anything I want a little more sparkle, the bridge seems to have boatloads of it
  7. HFC has relic bashing threads also? I would never have imagined it. Any guitar can be great or suck, it all depends on the individual instrument. BTW, I have 3 relics and 3 normal guitars, I buy and keep what ever sounds the best, nothing else matters.
  8. Is this the guy who is 6'5" and asks his wife to fight his battles? Happy B-Day
  9. Vinetto is the best I've played. I was seeking a tele a couple years ago, I went to Maken' Music and tried a Suhr ($2200?), Fender Master built ($6000) and then the Vinetto ($2500). I went home with the Vinetto and it didn't take but 2 minutes after I plugged it in to know. BTW, the guitar comes with Lollar pu's and a Glendale bridge assembly. Hamer's are nice guitars but when it comes to single coil guitars other people do a better job at it then Hamer. I do really love my Monoco and most of their newer designs.
  10. The Monoco's are fabulous instruments but that price seems awful high. I bought a hollowbody Monoco with Spruce and Seth Lovers used for $1200. If your buying new it will cost you but if you really like that guitar I say go for it.
  11. Thanks for the info, are collectors starting to come around to what us musicains have realized for a long time or is only certain pieces which are increasing in value? For example, the standards seem to be popular but the Sunbursts and such are still cheap. I have thoughts about buying every new Hamer I can afford and stashing them away till I retire; especially any of the Monocos. Any collectors out there see these guitars as futur collectable instruments? Sorry to take away from the thread.
  12. Nice guitar may I ask what you paid? Also what is the average price for all standards between 78 and 84? I know a dealer who has a couple and want to know if it's a good deal or not.
