Hey velorush, My 90 Chap neckjoint looks like the 96 Cruise neckjoint only the Cruise is a bolt-on neck. Looking forward to more in-site into this. Most-likely there is no rhyme or reason.

A picture of my 1990 Chaparral Bass neck joint compared to this 1989 that is for sale. What is the deal with the Chaparral neckjoint differences and why?

Please correct me if I am wrong. I believe this Cruise has passive DiMarzio pickups. They are loud as hell and sound amazing. I've been playing my Chaparral up until acquiring this Cruise last week. The Chaparral has EMG's and are also amazing but these passive pickups are twice as loud. The voice of this Cruise and super nice and its playability is very nice and smooth. Overall very happy with the purchase and I can look past it's imperfections. Message me if someone should have a blue Cruise that they would be willing to part with.

Quick update..... I received the Cruise on Tuesday. I will be spending some time with it next week. I had noticed cracks in the finish from the photographs posted but decided it still needed a good home. My eyes didn't deceive me the body has cracks in the finish around the strap button. Appears to be cosmetic only so I am not to concerned about it. Still a beautiful bass and glad it's been added to my instruments. More updates to come and thanks again.

Caught the show in NH, such a great venue. The Mule had a "kick ass" set. Some of my favorite classic Mule tunes. Looking forward to the NYE show in Boston. Joe was also great but personally I was there to see GM. They each joined one another for during their sets which is always cool. That show happened to follow on Jerry Garcia's birthday. Warren paid tribute to Jerry by Warren bringing out his Doug Irwin Eagle and played St.Stephen tease, Patchwork Quilt, Dark Star and Fire On The Mountain. What a great show it was. My first GM show was in 2006 during their High and Mighty tour, I was hooked. At that time Andy Hess was on bass and both Matt Abts and Andy Hess where absolutely locked in. To see what I am referring to as "locked in" check out GM A Tale Of 2 Cities live performances from the Orpheum Theatre Boston and Riviera Theatre Chicago. It's IMO some of GM's grooviest work captured on DVD. Andy Hess parted ways a few years after I think around 2008 when Jorgen Carlsson joined the band. Again IMO I think Andy and Matt had something special and the 2 of them together put down so amazing jams. DIdn't hurt having Danny Lewis on keys and Warren as the front man either.

Well, #1 will be in transit to the northeast. First time I have ever purchased and instrument over the internet. CME looks to be a class act and experienced shippers. Fingers crossed it arrives safely. @Velorush thanks for the heads up on these

Quick shout out to @velorush@Jimbillyand@Dave Scepter for troubleshooting steps, overall knowledge and recommendations. My Chap is back in business..... Replaced the input jack and the battery, soldered the red the green and the black wires to the input jack. She sounds good as the day I bought her new. Thank you very much! Long time looker on the HFC, this group is always solid unlike my playing.

Thank you for providing info on this issue. I appreciate your time getting back to me on this matter. So are you saying the green wire that is coming off the body of the Tone pots (has a gob of solder) should be on one of the three posts of the Tone pots? Does it matter which post on the Tone pots it is soldered too?

I apologize if this question has already been address. I have a 90 Chaparral Custom bass that has recently been giving me intermittent issues with output. It's probably the input jack and should probably be replace but wanted to ask you all before throwing parts at it. To describe the issue I am having, when I take my bass head off of mute I sometime have no output. If I fiddle with patch cord I eventually start getting a signal. However, while fiddling with the patch cord I get crackling and loud signals that will scare everyone include myself in our house. Amplifier is set to a very low volume but the crackling signal is very loud at times. I have tried clean the input jack and it was better. Last night while playing I could hear a faint distortion in the signal and signal was somewhat weak. Took the cover off and inspected the input jack along with wiring and discovered what appears to be a broken wire connection, not sure where that wire should go. I am not sure if the Green wire should go to the post on the input jack or to the 2nd Tone post. The 3rd Tone post looks like it has never had any soldering but the 2nd Tone post has a broken connection.
