  1. I'm always the last to find out. I have not visited this forum for a year. I posted in another thread what the status of Hamer was and got redirected here. I'm going to have to change my avatar being everyone is bashing Fender. No wonder I have not seen any Hamer's for sale and the one's I've been watching have been selling about 20% higher than a year ago. A co-worker once told me "Leo Fender's mo-to was build it as cheap as possible and sell it as hight a possible". Should have know Hamer would not last in that kind of environment. Farewell...
  2. It seems to me the Hamer of the 80's, 90's, and 00's are three different companies different guitars. The 80's hair bands with the Floyd Rose Super Strat's and the Sunburst and Standard. The 90's Daytona, T-51, Studio and Artist. the 00's Super Pro, Talladega, Newport, and Improv all with fancier trim. The later models seem more upper end something you would see in a high class jazz club. I'm no expert on dates and models but that's kind of what I see. I see new Hamer's on Ebay, I think it's called Willcut Music. I'm assuming it's all new old stock. When were these models last made? Does anyone know what the status of Hamer is? The last I heard is they were making Guild Guitars but I thought that was 2 years ago. I'm too cheap to buy a new Hamer because they depreciate too much. However if they fired up the factory I'd have no problem buying a second hand 2013 model. If you have skilled wood workers they can build it.
  3. I'm not sure about color codes. If red and white are tied together leave them because that's probably used if you want to split the coil. Which ever wire goes to the pickup selector or potentiometer is hot and the other is ground will be soldered to the casing of the potentiometer or the switch eventually making a path back to the sleeve of the input jack. I bought a guitar used a year ago and the pickups were out of phase. I did not like it. I took the cover off the back of the guitar and I could tell all the wiring was factory. I then saw the pickup cover and been re soldered. I removed the pickup cover and rotated the magnet 180 degrees. Same effect much simpler to do.
  4. I'm not familiar with the TLE. Why is there what appears to be a left hand tremolo on the guitar?
  5. My first electric guitar was a ~ 1985 Peavey Patriot with the amp in the case. In 1994 I sold the Patriot and I was looking for a Fender Strat Plus. By accident I wondered into a music store and the Salesman introduced me to a Hamer Daytona ash body with tweed case for $589. I played it and thought it was awesome but for some reason I had to have the Strat Plus which a bought a few months later for $999. If I could go back in time I would have bought that Daytona. In 2001 I'm on eBay and somehow I came across an Artist. After watching them on eBay for 6 months I bought one. The Artist is my favorite sounding guitar. The Studio is fun to play but it's just there. I like playing a Strat or Tele live because of the comfort and feel. Had I known about Hamer in the early 90's what I know now I'd own 1 of every model and it would make up the majority of my guitars. What I like about Hamer is the wood quality. Go on EBay and look at your average Gibson and then look at a Hamer. The wood grain on Hamer's is beautiful. That said looks and sound are two different things. My friend bought a beat up LP Studio he paid $400 10 years ago. This $400 LP is the best sounding LP I've ever played. In the future if the price is right I’ll buy any Hamer model I don’t already own just for collections sake. 6. Not ugly at all. Is this an Eclipse? Looks like it has the SG thing going on. I think I'd prefer a traditional hum-bucker in the bridge though. I definitely like to play it! I also like the double neck Hamer above. These two guitars don't belong on this page IMHO.
  7. Never tried them. I'd guess they sound the same no matter what kind of guitar you put them in. I thought they were marketed for pedals to get the true sound of the pedal and not the guitar.
