Yeah it's weird because there's a pot in the compartment as if it was a gain pot for the humbucker. Now I'm thinking the green square is a second tone cap.

1.21 jigawatts! What was I thinking?!

Chris Matthes suggests it is a volume trim pot for the Stacked Single Coils to bring the volume to same level and seeing it is connected to the two single coil positions on the switch I agree with him.

I feel it would be useful to other players to share the knowledge once I figure it out.

I was referring to the extra potentiometer in the cavity there.  I believe that the green cube is something else, like a box capacitor/preamp or something like that.

Yeah agreed on the internal pot.  Same with the green square which could be a WIMA cap: https://www.wima.de/en/

So far I only see a white and black wire going to the mystery green square, so unless there's more wires hidden, it's probably a cap.  But here's an example of a preamp from Bartolini: https://bartolini.net/product/xtct/

I'll be examining it more tomorrow.

I changed the strings, inspected the humbucker, SD JB label not JBJ or JBG, oiled the fret board, changed tremolo lock blocks to titanium, leveled tremolo to body. What a difference new strings make!

Will report any findings.

I examined it tonight watching Dune Prophecy and it is a second tone knob that affects all three Pickups.

Wow, what a difference in sound as it was nearly fully engaged killing the highs.
