Derrog86 Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 I know it's been discussed before, but I can't find the message board on how to check serial numbers. Anyone want to help out a newbie? I have had my bass since 1985ish?
Steve Haynie Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 The first number in the serial number is the last number of the year your Blitz Bass was made.
mathman Posted January 23, 2025 Posted January 23, 2025 looks nice! recently got an 84 that's was modified but awesome basses. The Holy Rail? I mean the USA standard bass is the Holy Grail.... right?

Back in the day the paint yellowed, and I did a multi color Skeem on the bass. About three years ago I had a luthier do some adjustments and repaint to original color. He painted over the logo. Scrape off the white and find the logo, like a lottery ticket!

Yes, those are emg's. much more powerful. the tone was awesome through my SWR amps. One problem though, had noise through them in the studio. ended up copper wrapping all of the electronics interior. took care of the problem.
Derrog86 Posted January 26, 2025 Author Posted January 26, 2025 At some point this year, this Bass will come up for sale. All original except for the paint and electronics. I have the original case, but from all of the shows and stickers and no handle, its hammered on the outside, but plush on the inside.

Hamer did use the EMG's and active electronics more often on the later basses. I was never sure if the Blitz came that way stock. When I ordered the Standard 12 bass, they were going to build it with EMG's and I requested Bartolini pickups with no active electronics. I'm wondering if there's anyone reproducing the original Hamerusa logo that you could apply to the headstock.
