kizanski Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 From her gofundme page: Help Marie Recover from Devastating Dog Attack On August 15th, 2025, my world changed in an instant. Just 18 hours after adopting a German Shepherd with hopes of giving him a loving home, I was viciously attacked and sustained life-altering injuries. What Happened: Despite my years of experience adopting, fostering, rescuing, and caring for dogs, this unpredictable attack left me with severe soft tissue damage to both ankles, my shoulder, and my right hand. Most devastatingly, I lost part of my right index finger, though doctors were able to save half the finger - unfortunately, reattachment wasn't possible. I was rushed by ambulance on a 40-minute ride to Bayonet Point Level 2 Trauma Center, where the incredible medical team worked to treat my injuries. Who I Am: I'm a mother, singer-songwriter, and musician who works in marketing. Music has always been my passion and my livelihood, making this injury to my dominant hand particularly challenging. As someone who has dedicated years to helping rescue animals, this incident has left me not only physically wounded but emotionally devastated and traumatized. Why I Need Your Help: The medical expenses are mounting quickly—from the emergency ambulance transport to trauma center treatment, ongoing wound care, physical therapy, and psychological support to help me cope with this trauma. I am also looking to get a functional prosthetic by the end of the year. How You Can Help: Any contribution, no matter the size, will help cover: - Hospital and trauma center bills - Ongoing medical treatments and wound care - Physical therapy and rehabilitation - Mental health support - Lost income during recovery I'm working hard to stay positive and maintain my mental health during this tough time. Your support means more than just financial help; it's hope, love, and a reminder that I'm not alone in this journey. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer. I'm grateful for this community and your kindness during this challenging time 3 1 Quote
