hamersandstrats Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Got a little junior project in the works featuring some old wood. Looking for a cool sounding bridge P-90 of the dog-earred variety. Let me know what you have.

hamersandstrats Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 that one looks interesting-but it seems too cheap to sound good? Do you have any experience with the brand?
hardheartedbill Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I'm using 2 sets of the GFS strat pickups, they frickin rock
serial Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Too cheap to rock? My thoughts exactly. Well, I was looking for a Barden for Tele and I'm not ready to spend $200 plus on a bridge pickup experiment (Brian Forsythe uses them in his Tele and it was the best sounding Tele I've heard in a long time, maybe ever). Jaye Isham and HHB, both of whom I would say know tones said good things about them, so I checked 'em out.I bought a GFS Hot Tele rail humbucker for the whopping price of $24 on eBay(direct new from mfgr) and it arrived monday. I installed it tuesday night and immediately it was a huge improvement thru a headphone amp (it was late at night). Used it through my rig at practice and I'm sold. Unfortunately, my toggle switch gave out at the end of the night. Nonetheless, for $24+3 shipping, these CANNOT be beat. I love this thing.
BadgerDave Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I have a Lindy Fralin P-90 dogear that's in virtually new condition. I'd sell it for $45.00 shipped. I'm going to be traveling from Thursday night through Sunday, so my e-mail access is limited until Sunday night.
hamersandstrats Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks for the replies fellas-I certainly trust both your ears! There are alot of positive comments about those GFS pickups on the web (did some research when I should have been working today). Badger-tell me about the Fralin-color? under/over-wound? If its black and overwound, I'll take it.
BadgerDave Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I have both cream and black covers. It measures 7.89 ohms on my digital multi-meter.

hamersandstrats Posted June 27, 2006 Author Posted June 27, 2006 Hey Badger,I'm gonna pass on the Fralin, although I think thats a great price for that pickup. I'm going to go with one of these (you guys sold me on GFS):http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=7411871083Its going into a '62 Gretsch Corvette with a wilky wrap tail (like my old studio).
