Punkavenger Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 A while back I found an '82 special on ebay ... sellers store kinda thing not an actual auctionEddie Collins at "Island Fret" in Greensville, South CarolinaIt was exactly what I was looking for, all original, medium jumbo frets, sustain block and in cherry burst which I likeIt was a little pricey $799.00 ... But they gave me a month to pay for it so I said "what the hell"I worked construction weekends to make the money ... Sent the m/o prority mail with delivery confirmation on the 9th of JuneAnd it still hasn't arrived! The fucking post office lost it!I went to the post office and filed a claim ... but the character behind the counter said I had about a 50/50 chance of finding it and that I should have gotten insurance!BASTARD!I thought if I sent it PRIORITY MAIL w/ DELIVERY CONFIRMATION It should actually get there ... evidently NOTSo ol' Eddie is starting to get a little uptight ... He hasn't actually said it but I can tell he wants to keep my $100.00 deposit and sell the special to someone else(it was supposed to be paid off by the 15th)SOOO...What would you guys recommend? Have you ever had a similar problem?I should be able to get my money back from the m/o (hopefully) but it takes a month and I'm sure Eddie won't wait that long and I'll probaly loose my depositI can come up with another $800.00 but it will take a few weeks no credit cards (I know myself )What should Island Frets ethical response be?Does anyone know or dealt with these guys in the past?SOOO...if I decide to fill a claim with the m/o company and get my money backDoes anyone have a 82 special or sunburst in good original cond. sustain block and medium jumbo frets for around $800 bucks?thanks for your help
DavidE Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Maybe if you show the guitar store some evidence that you bought the money order and sent it (like the stub from the m/o and the delivery confirmation number) and then give them another $100 towards payment, they'll hold it for another month until you can get your money back for the lost money order?
kurtsstuff Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Have I ever told you about my "short term" loan program??? just kidding and maybe I missed the point but...good luck on the journey ahead of you..
geoff_hartwell Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Looks like you got two problems; the post office and the seller. I agree with DavidE that if you explain it the seller should be reasonable, and hopefully he'll accept another partial payment while you're sorting it out. As for the post office, you have two pieces of evidence when you buy a usps money order- the stub that you fill out, and the actual receipt issued by the usps. Hopefully you have both If you have both, you can find out if and where its been cashed (by some dirtbag). There is digital evidence for everything somewhere. Did you get a tracking number for the priority mail? (they typically issue one) In any case, keep your spirits up. There is a way, somehow, to get your money back. You don't have to take shit from anyone.
