gkelm Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 ********SOLD...pending payment******** 2006 Gibson Historic '57 Les Paul goldtop This guitar is in near-mint condition...maybe a few very minor picking/handling swirleys, with OHSC, Cert, and case goodies. It's a non-VOS model with BB pups & bumblebees. Plays great, nice setup, and the tone is ALL THERE. No kidding, this is the punchiest, woodiest guitar I've ever played...loud acoustically, and kicks booty plugged in. But at the end of the day, the big neck/goldtop thing is not really "me"....although I surprised myself at how comfortable I was able to get with this neck. Weight feels about average (I'd guess 9 lb, perhaps a bit more) and feels nicely balanced. (Pics show straplock buttons on it, but will ship with just the original/stock buttons.) $1850 shipped (CONUS/money order) OBO I'd consider a Historic SG or R8/R0 in a trade deal...or a tweed bassman (Vic, LTD, etc.) Thanks, Greg
serial Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 These are GREAT guitars. Mine's a VOS R4, but Gibson's Historic stuff that I've played lately is damned good.
cswilder Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Serial,Let me know if you ever want to sell that R4. Greg,That's nice looking R7. If I didn't already have one we'd be talking about it.
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 What is a VOS model and how is this one different? Thanks.
Guest pirateflynn Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 What is a VOS model and how is this one different? Thanks. Just figured it out. Vintage Original Spec. Good luck with the sale.
serial Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 The finish is "aged" on the VOS ones (not really shiny and new, but a little duller), some parts appear aged a little, the fingerboard edges are supposed to be rolled (not much in actuality, but comfortable) and the fingerboards are Plekked.
