JohnnyThunders Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Sh-4 or Tb-4? Need all black. Also black pickup ring. Have a soume pickups x2n and a Dual sound? That's what the guy who sold me the guitar says.Or cash or other stuff like pedals, fuzz and Keely ds-1
Travis Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I've got an all black, regular spaced JB if you want it. I think I might even have an extra black pickup ring. Do you need a thick one or a thin one?
JohnnyThunders Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Cool will it fit a special? The thick one for the bridge? I'm a little clueless but I'm going to pop it out and put it in there. Any idea what pots are standard in a Hamer, 250k or 500? How much you want?
Travis Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I just checked my parts drawer and I was afraid of this. I've got a couple extra thin pickup rings, but none of the thick ones for the bridge of your Special. The JB is standard spaced. I've got a standard spaced pickup in the bridge of my 95 Special FM and it lines up just fine. Does your Special have a sustain block or tune-o-matic? The standard pots are 500k, which most people use with the JB, even though it and the Jazz were designed using the stock 250k pots that were in Jeff Beck's Tele.Is this an experiment to see if you like the JB in the bridge? Or are you looking specifically for the JB to keep in that guitar?
Scottcrud Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Hey, Brandon Sellers is looking for more X2N's...
formula73 Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Holy crap. How did I miss this? I've got a black JB and I can probably find a thick-ish black pickup ring in my box-o-crap...I'll look tomorrow and see about the ring but if you want it within the next 2 weeks or so you have to let me know quick. Wednesday the 24th is the only day I'll be able to mail anything off from shore for the next 1 1/2 weeks or so. If there's no hurry, that's cool.Hopefully you'll see this tonight...pm me herebransellers1@aol.combrandon.sellers@cvn68.navy.mil...just in case!

It's a sustain block I was worried about the height as it looks from the duncan site that the one is higher off the body than the other. No experiment I love the jb, I know I'm weird. Don't worry about the pickup ring.
GusS Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I once tried to fit a seymour duncan in an early 80s hamer but it didnt fit in the pickup cavity(ies) cuz the ears of the baseplate are wider and squarer than Dimarzios. put a pair of Dimarzio paf's in it man.
JohnnyThunders Posted August 23, 2006 Author Posted August 23, 2006 I have an 81 with jb's in my local tech did it he didn't mention any problems. I find PAFS muddy to my ears. I like crisp and jb's a shrill to some but crisp to me.
