Brewmaster Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Scott...... I wish you luck in your search. If it's a beater it is very likely a player and it is hard to get them out of the hands of thier owners. I went through this last year.

This fellow is in USA, so you won't have to pay to bring it all the in from Japan.Personally, I have a 2004 or 5 Tokai '61 SG replica (made in Korea.) . Satisfied my craving, for under $500. bucks.
Scottcrud Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 thanx guitfiddler, I've got my eye on a Orville in Japan right now, as well as some early 70's Gibbys on e-bay.
Brewmaster Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 thanx guitfiddler, I've got my eye on a Orville in Japan right now, as well as some early 70's Gibbys on e-bay. I was going to email you yesterday and mention this. Don't get it from ebay. There are a lot of dud Gibsons from the 70's Norlin era floating around. I wouldn't buy any Gibson without playing it first but the 70's have a higher dud rate than any other IMHO. Just my .02.
guitfiddler Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I became unemployed back in early Feb., and have been liquidating some excess gear to supplement my unemployment comp. I've got this Tokai '61 SG I picked up a couple years ago that I'll part with if you're interested, and I'll look for another one when I'm working again. It is still in near-mint condition, perfectly set-up and ready to play. I had BCR replace the original Korean electronics with the good stuff (CTS pots, etc.) last year, also did a set-up and precision-cut the nut slots. Buttery smooth low action. Incl. brand-new Gibson tan SG case. $675. shipped conus. Postal Money Order or personal check ok, add $25. for PayPal fee. THANKSThanks for the offer, but I'm not wanting to spend that much. After playing about 6 different SG's today I'm starting to think that a SG might not be for me, the necks are too fat. I'm sure I remember playing a few that had thinner necks.

RedLizard Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Scott,Email me, if you're still looking. I've got a Heritage Cherry 2005 with the 60's neck that might be just what you're looking for. All original, a couple of dings, some scratches scattered about. No breaks or repairs. Great player, TKL hardcase. Thanks, Scott (another one)
Rocktuna Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I know what you mean about the necks on SG's When I was a kid back in the stone ages I played an SG that had a really narrow neck that was a little deeper than standard. Later when I could afford one I searched for that neck profile on every SG I saw and couldn't find one. Fast forward about 30+ years and I stumble upon a project SG (69/70) the guy says he didn't like the neck on it it was 2 narrow. As soon as I picked it up it was like finding THE ONE. Waiting for some pups and then back together it goes. I'm stoked.
