Guest hectorp2 Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Got a work bonus and acquired one off eBay.Very very nice.Slightly heavy (per the seller, 9lbs, 12oz)...but I find that "mass" is part of the credibility of its Les Paul appeal. It also helps the guitar sit still against the physics of your playing...which is different than what happens with a lighter guitar.I haven't yet A/B-ed yet against my others...but it plays great and has a great crisp sound that cleans up well (ala Peter Green). The finish is a beautiful subtle and light tobacco sunburt.Great instrument!
Guest hectorp2 Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Here's the item number so you can see the pics on eBay:Item number: 7315551804Here's the URL, which you would probably have to paste in your browser: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1I'll take some more pictures on the weekend when I can get some natural light. It's a beaut.
jwhitcomb3 Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Nice looking guitar! Thanks for the report, and congratulations.-Jonathan
edgar_allan_poe Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 All it needs is a single coil middle pickup...LOL!!!
Guerrilla Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 does that look more like a 59 burst to anyone but me?i suppose that certificate on the case is gonna prove me wrong.
KeyOfZ Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 I have a Monaco SuperPro in Tobacco Sunburst that looks like that as well. I wonder if Hamer changed Tobacoo Sunburst? Maybe they give these guitars a different version of TBS? Here's a couple pics of my SuperPro: This is under normal lighting: This is under a California Sunset:
Guest hectorp2 Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Key of ZThat SuperPro is gorgeous...back in the day I had a Les Paul with a similar burst finish...although I think your Superpro looks warmer. My Elite isn't as dark at the edges...in fact it's probably a cross between a tobacco and what they used to call "amberburst"...a finish that they put on the Vintage S (probably keeping the edges more transparent to keep the figure exposed).
KeyOfZ Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 hectorp2 - Thanks, I actually like the grain on your Elite better...looks like an upgraded top maybe?Sweet score!I think it's interesting how Hamer does the finishes just a little different on each piece.Enjoy your new guitar!
