How much do the quality of effects pedals and the cables you use to connect them come into play here? If I get a good quality 18' cable and then have runn-of-the-mill cables on my pedalboard, will I hear any difference at all? Or, if I have Boss pedals, does that cancel out anything gained by a good cable?

Call me when the deal goes through I'd love one too ... and by the time that one gets built, I probably will be able to afford it, haha

On my phantom custom I took out the JB (hated it, like you said, too hot/brittle/crappy) and put in a 9.5k High Order A5 humbucker. I really like it. Now the humbucker sounds as alive as the acoustic sound/single coils. the picture is a little blurry, but it's a double adjustable coil humbucker. I also went with a zebra one. What do you guys think of the look of it?

I totally agree with this statement of Rush as a whole. Their early stuff was fabulous, but then in the 80s they, along with sooo many others, got caught up in the synth stuff (eeewwww). But their recent stuff is back to the early style. They've produced so much good stuff that I can forgive them for their 80s debaucles. I mean, c'mon, has anyone here heard "I Think I'm Going Bald"? . . . . terrible

I don't think so at all. I have a Phantom Custom, and the two other Hamers that I would really want are a Mirage and an Electraglide (besides the requisite lust for a four digit standard)

I guess I really don't know the song, but this is rarely true. It's all those darn secondary dominants and tri-tone substitutions that get in the way.
