Lockbody Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 So I got to try out a Mesa Stiletto II this weekend and fell in love and bought it. I played Marshalls for a long time before I got my first Mesa amp, and if you love "that" sound, the Stiletto II delivers. But the Roadster is a great amp, too. Probably one of Mesa's best ever. Wayyyy more than just a "Recto", although it'll do that in spades, the Roadster is graced with one of Mesa's best clean channels, a great crunch, and one of the best reverbs. I'll save the sales pitch, though, as a quick trip to Mesa website will give you much more info than I could ever type, plus these amps have been getting a lot of hype... and they deserve it it's a smoking amp. Condition is like new and it has never left my non-smoking basement studio since I got it. Less than 40hrs playing time on it. Over 4 1/2 years of factory, transferable warranty left. As cherry as they come. Mesa authorized a tranny mod early on to increase tranny life and this one has had it done at a factory service center. higher res pic available HERE These are $1899 plus tax ($2069 is what I paid for it) I'm selling this one for $1700 shipped CONUS only. Add Paypal fee of 3% on this if going that route. USPS MO preferred, but I'll take a check as long as you're willing to wait. It'll be well packed. Manual, hang tags, bling, etc included. I'll also throw in 4x SED =C= 6L6 with less than 10hrs on them along with stock tubes. My PM's work great and/or you can email me @ bob dot russom at gmail dot com *edited some more to sweeten pot

Lockbody Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 Will any of youse guys throw a link on the Gear Page for me, as I've never signed up over there?
HamerHokie Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Lockbody - since you brought it up, was it a Stilletto DEUCE that you bought? I am confused about what Mesa did with this amp - from the promo on the website it sounds like they were shooting for a hot-rodded Marshall. How good is it at doing the 70s Plexi tone? Or is it a strictly high gain affair? And why don't more amp manufacturers put sound clips on their websites??

Scottcrud Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 He's getting the Stilletto Version 2 which has a lot more gain, and will do scooped metal...
kurtsstuff Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 He's getting the Stilletto Version 2 which has a lot more gain, and will do scooped metal... I must be doing something wrong????
Scottcrud Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 well, maybe not, I read on the "forums" all the time how this amp will not do scooped metal and that amp won't do death metal...I can make just about any amp fit my style, and you've heard my bands stuff. My old Boogie.50Cal+ is one of the amps people say can't do scooped metal oe death metal...ever hear of a band called Deadhorse? That's the amp I used in deadhorse whom people consider a death metal band...it's all subjective I suppose.
Lockbody Posted May 8, 2007 Author Posted May 8, 2007 I must be doing something wrong???? Maybe. I play in a hardcore/thrash band and the Stiletto Duece Stage II has more gain on tap than any Marshall or Mesa/Boogie, save a Recto, I've ever owned. It does lack the "brutality" and low-end of the Rectos, but it's not meant to occupy that territory, but to complement it. I've never owned a plexi, so I can't tell you how close it comes to nailing the tones, but there are some sweet EL34 tones in it for sure. Good cleans too, however not in the same league as my Roadster (or a Roadking II or Lonestar for that matter). Remember my Roadster? The one for sale? He's getting the Stilletto Version 2 which has a lot more gain, and will do scooped metal... I got it. I liked so much 10mins into playing it I bought it. After we warmed up to "Into The Void" the guys in my band said they thought the S.D.S.II was easily the best amp I've ever had. JCM800 JCM900 Jubile 2ch Recto MK IV Triaxis Roadster
