Michael_ Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Apparently there is a company called 'Bill Lawrence Products" or "Bill Lawrence USA" that is currently making rail style pickups and calling them Bill Lawrence pickups. I don't know what's going on with this, but I don't want some cheap knockoff 500XL. I want the real deal handwound by a little old man genius pickup. I don't really care what color it is. Anyway, if anyone has one, (or knows where I can get one) please let me know, because I can't find the real thing anywhere on the internet. Thanks a bunch.

Faust Wurstkotzenhauser Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 For the real deal, go here:http://www.billlawrence.com/-Austin+1I've ordered many pickups from Becky! They have all been really great, for shockingly low prices. Bill and Becky are both really great people to deal with!
Submariner85 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Good prices. Cheaper than a Dimebucker and it's the same thing.
zorrow Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 L-500 pups from Bill & Becky are great, but just be warned that they won't color in any way your tone. They are very articulated and pretty high-output humbuckings, they also are perfectly balanced, from the lowest lows to the highest highs. However, with them it will be just your guitar and you -- no more, no less-- so you better get a great natural tone or your sound will simply suck. By the way, let me tell you something now: I don't know how good the other Bill Lawrence pickups are, but the owner of the brand is an a$$h0l3 and I will never ever buy a pickup from his company. The guy banned my ad from eBay because I wrote "L-500 pups designed by Bill Lawrence, the legendary pickup designer", and he still claimed I was violating trademark rules. WTF!? But the worst thing was that eBay guys said that when a trademark owner complains they automatically must remove your ad without asking any question. It's their policy and there will be no arbitrage: once your ad is removed, it's just the brand owner (an a$$h0l3 in this case) and you who should work the problem out. So, OK, I lost my ad... but from now on I would say to my fellow guitarists that the owner of "the other" Bill Lawrence brand is just a paranoiac dumb, so I will never buy anything from his company just because he sucks as a person, period. Edited to add: So yes, Bill & Becky from http://www.billlawrence.com/ are the real deal. Just buy from them!
