kenjones Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 SOLD! 1979 Hamer Sunburst with OHSC. Three mini-switches removed and filled by BCRGreg. All else original. Medium/thin neck. (sorry for all the dust in the photos!)
mfreyer Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Medium/thin neck.Thank goodness! Otherwise I would be in for some serious home troubles...Looks fantastic!
matchful Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Nice one!Very nice indeed. Greg did a good job with the holes. I have always dug the black ones, too bad it is thinner neck.
kenjones Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 Very nice indeed. Greg did a good job with the holes. Actually one day Greg was visiting my house, saw this guitar, and told me to send it back to him because he wasn't completely happy with the job he did on the holes. I shipped it to him and he sent the guitar back after making the repair better than before. These pictures that I've posted were taken a couple of years before Greg re-did the repair. Perhaps I should take some more recent photos in direct sunlight...

serial Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I almost bought this guitar eleven years ago from Vintage Guitar, but it got sold the day I called for it. Fortunately for me, I asked the guy if he had or had seen any other old Hamer Sunbursts. He said "no, but I do have a sunburst Hamer Explorer that's pretty old that came in when this one did, I just didn't get it in the ad". So I scored my first four digit Standard.
kenjones Posted September 7, 2007 Author Posted September 7, 2007 A couple of things I remembered about this guitar. 1. The original bridge pickup was at one time removed, but was re-installed before I received it. 2. The electronics have obviously been re-wired since there were once three mini-switches on the guitar. 3. The strap buttons have been replaced with Dunlop straplocks. The guitar has been played so there's a few nicks and scratches here and there. I took some more pics outside today. Here they are:
