FunkyE9th Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 I'm not familiar with Fralin Unbuckers, but I assumed they look like regular humbuckers. Does the pic you have show the unbuckers installed? Thanks,-FunkyE9th

Does the pic you have show the unbuckers installed? Thanks,-FunkyE9thThe pics do show the Unbuckers. They look like a single coil, but they are actually sort of humbuckers, but with different windings and output on each coil. Their voicing is somewhere between a P90 and a PAF-style HB. Pretty cool sound, I think, esp in the neck.MarkPS Here's a link to the Fralin site description of them:http://www.fralinpickups.com/humbuckers.asp#un
AdmiralB Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 The pickups in the picture aren't Unbuckers. Unbuckers are just HBs wound with one coil weaker than the other. The pickups in the picture are either Phat Cats or someone else's P90-in-a-HB-case pickup. Fralin did make one of those for a while, but I don't think it ever had a name.

Sound of hand slapping own forehead, Admiral B is right (of course)! When I went into the shop to buy some new pickups, we originally thought Fralin had quit making the P90 in the humbucker case, so I ordered the Unbuckers. When the dealer called to place the order, it turned out they were still custom winding the P90, just not as a standard model, so he went with that, knowing what I had originally wanted. +10% bridge, -5% neck winds. Of course all I remembered was the name "unbucker". Duh, forgive my senior moment MarkB PS Auction to be revised ASAP of course.
Guitarseh Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 Bump for auction ending todayThanks,Mark
