Arjay Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Hello, I joined this board several months ago when I first ran across it this past summer. I've just been lurking and drooling while trying to save up for an FM Special. I have wanted a Standard since I bought my first copy of "Heaven Tonight" in 1978 but think a Special will fit my finances better. Anyway, my 14 year old comes up to me today and says that the only thing that he wants for Christmas is a Hamer FM Special! So I guess I am now looking for a guitar of my kid's dreams instead of my dreams. I realize that I have not met the 10 post limit but does anyone have an FM Special that they are willing to part with? Doesn't have to be in great shape (one of my other kids wants a new drum set and the other wants a guitar with flames)!. I am in southwest Ohio and willing to drive a bit if someone will only accept cash. Thanks,Bob
tomteriffic Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Arjay, I wouldn't part with mine for anything, it was my first Hamer and still in my go-to list. However, there *may* be a very nice NOS one to be had in Dayton at Drinking Gourd Music. John, the owner is no longer a Hamer dealer but he has one or two NOS pieces tucked away as he has sworn that he'd rather burn a guitar before he sells it for less than what he has in it. So, he probably still has it. Considering that the price of used ones has been creeping up, this one may be worth considering. Oh, it's an unusual trans red. Not a sunburst or whatever.
Arjay Posted November 10, 2007 Author Posted November 10, 2007 Are you serious? I go in there all the time. That's where I got my 14 year old's Washburn electric and one of his acoustics. Both those guys are good friends of one of my Brothers-in-law! I live just up the road in Vandalia. Sounds like it might be pretty pricey but I'll check it out. Thanks

Thanks I've been doing bidness with John for over 20 years. Got my Special FM and one or two others from him, along with a Taylor and I don't remember what-all Tell him that Tom from Spiny Norman sent you. He'll charge you double.
